Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

📖 "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."
Proverbs 25:28

Panimula

1. Disiplina sa Sariling Katawan

📖 "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
1 Corinthians 9:27

2. Disiplina sa Isip at Damdamin

📖 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7

📖 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8

3. Disiplina sa Pananalita

📖 "He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction."
Proverbs 13:3

📖 "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."
Colossians 4:6

4. Disiplina sa Pananampalataya at Pananalangin

📖 "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer."
1 Peter 4:7

📖 "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong."
1 Corinthians 16:13

Pagninilay at Panalangin

Reflection Verse:

📖 "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."
Hebrews 12:11

  1. Hebrews 12:11 NIV
[11] No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
At first, having obliged on everyday prayer and devotion is kind of hard to follow, especially when we are not used to do something like this. But as we read the scriptures, the Lord will surely reveal Himself to you. All we need to do, is to have courage and discipline to obey Him. For prayer is the most powerful weapon we have.

  3. From Hebrews 12:11
Speaks to the paradoxical nature of suffering and its ultimate redemptive power. It's not something we naturally find joyful in the moment. However, the verse emphasizes that this initial pain is not the end of the story. The key lies in the phrase "afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness."
The "peaceable fruit of righteousness" represents the positive, lasting outcome of enduring the difficult experience. This growth comes from the process of being "exercised"—tested, refined, and ultimately strengthened by the trials.
The reflection here centers on the importance of perspective. The "peaceable fruit" is a promise of future blessing, a reward for perseverance and faithfulness during times of adversity. The verse encourages patience and faith, reminding us that the present pain is temporary, while the future reward is eternal.

This verse reminds us that discipline and trials, though difficult in the moment, have a greater purpose. At first, correction feels painful and unwanted, but in time, it produces growth, wisdom, and righteousness. Just like an athlete endures training to become stronger, believers are shaped by challenges to develop deeper faith and character. It’s a call to trust God’s process, knowing that even hardships can lead to lasting peace and spiritual maturity.

Discipline has different aspects that we need to develop, control, and be consistent in our actions. It is one of the most important traits that a person must have. It is our foundation for self-growth and success. Discipline helps to stay focused on goals, overcome challenges, and have consistency
    .
I believe that while we're making our self-discipline stronger, it will lead us to success. Live a life that is grounded by discipline and commitment. If we have plans to work in silence, don't tell others what your plan is because they might be a distraction. Remember that not everyone wants to see you succeed in life. Let distractors only see reality, not our dreams and plans in life. Life is like a game of chess; we don't need to speak but to act. Let the success blow at last.

In everything we do, discipline and temperance in action and words are important. Being disciplined takes time and commitment. Not just in our external personality but also in our internal personality. When we're disciplined enough, it's not easy to be distracted and lose hope in times of challenges.

    Devotional Week 2
The devotion Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili emphasizes the importance of self-discipline in various aspects of life, particularly for those on a spiritual journey. It highlights the interconnectedness of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual disciplines. The core message revolves around gaining control over one's thoughts, words, and actions. The analogy of a city without walls illustrates the vulnerability of an undisciplined life, susceptible to temptation and chaos. The devotion doesn't isolate discipline to a single area. It addresses self-discipline in physical health, mental and emotional well-being, speech, and spiritual growth. The ultimate goal of self-discipline is presented as a means to strengthen one's faith and relationship with God. Disciplined living is viewed as a path to spiritual maturity and resilience. The devotion acknowledges the ever-present challenge of temptation and the need for constant vigilance. It encourages active resistance to negative influences. While emphasizing the importance of self-control, the devotion also acknowledges the role of God's grace in overcoming challenges. The reflection verse from Hebrews 12:11 speaks to the eventual benefits of enduring hardship and discipline.

The three questions for self-reflection encourage personal assessment of one's current level of self-discipline and identify areas for improvement. The prayer offers a guide for seeking God's help in cultivating greater self-control.

Overall, this devotion offers a practical and holistic approach to self-discipline, grounding it within a spiritual framework. It emphasizes the importance of consistent effort, perseverance, and reliance on God's grace in the journey toward self-mastery and spiritual growth.

It ensures that I remain mentally focused on my studies, regulate my thoughts and actions, as well as maintain a positive mindset even in the face of problems.

    Hebrew 12-11
Hebrews gives us a wonderful list of people who are commended by God for their faith. It is a catalogue of men and women, named and unnamed, that stand as witnesses to lives that honoured the Lord – men like Abraham who looked for a city whose Builder and Maker is God; women like Sarah who considered God was faithful to keep His promise.

They are called "a great cloud of witnesses," and indeed their lives demonstrate a trust in God that stands as a wonderful testimony to the faithfulness of God in their lives, and a great encouragement for us to run the race that lies before us, and press on for the high call of God as we look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith Who endured the Cross for our sake: "Therefore," we are exhorted, "since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."

Despite the many trials and tribulations they were called upon to face, these men and women obtained a good testimony through faith. They finished the race that was set before them having set aside the sin which plagues so many Christians – the sin of unbelief. And as we look at their example, we are challenged in our own race through life, to forget the things which are behind, to discard anything and everything that might impede our progress or hinders our witness, as we reach forward to complete God's plans and purposes for our lives.

In this passage, the writer of Hebrews is pointing out that merely experiencing something unpleasant does not mean we're being punished by God, or have been abandoned by Him. There are times where God uses struggles and hardships to correct us away from sin. Here, the writer points out that nobody likes to be disciplined. Hardships are just that: difficult times, and a test of our faith. While in the midst of some struggle, our minds are mostly concerned with how unpleasant the situation is.

  54. Living with discipline means committing to self-control, consistency, and a strong moral foundation. It requires making choices that align with our values and long-term goals rather than giving in to fleeting desires or distractions. Discipline shapes our character, strengthens our faith, and leads us to a purposeful life.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of self-discipline in 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV):
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."

This verse reminds us that discipline is not merely about restriction but about empowerment. Through self-discipline, we develop the strength to overcome challenges, the love to act with kindness, and the wisdom to stay true to our purpose. It helps us grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, leading to a life of fulfillment and integrity.

Living with discipline means setting boundaries, staying committed to our principles, and trusting that God's guidance will lead us in the right direction. When we practice self-discipline, we not only honor ourselves but also reflect God's wisdom and grace in our daily lives.

Negative thoughts can sometimes cloud my judgment, words spoken in frustration can hurt others, and impulsive actions may lead to regret. However, being aware of these weaknesses is the first step toward improvement. I must continually practice self-awareness and intentionality in my daily life.

Discipline and self-control are vital in leading a meaningful and fulfilling life. They help shape my character and allow me to grow into a better version of myself. Though challenges arise, I must remember that progress is a continuous process. By seeking guidance, staying committed, and learning from my mistakes, I can develop a stronger sense of discipline that aligns with my values and purpose.

In the moment, discipline is rarely enjoyable. It can be unpleasant, perplexing, and even demoralizing when God permits us to experience periods of chastening, whether via trials, correction, or pruning. Scripture, however, reminds us that there is always a reason for God's discipline. This Hebrews passage is frank: making corrections is difficult. It is "grievous" at the moment. It can rob us of our comfort, test our pride, or reveal our frailties. However, in God's hands, discipline is preparation rather than punishment. It is the tender correction of a father who recognizes our identity and our potential.

  60. Self-discipline means doing what is right, even when it's hard. It helps me stay close to God and live the way He wants. In the Bible, God tells us to be self-controlled and not follow every feeling or desire we have.

Each day, I need to make good choices like spending time with God, being kind, and not giving in to anger or laziness. Sometimes I want to do things that are fun but not helpful, like wasting time or speaking without thinking. Self-discipline helps me stop and ask, “What would God want me to do?” Self-discipline is not about being perfect, but about growing and trying every day with God’s help. With God’s strength, I can choose what is right and live in a way that honors Him.

    Repleksyon:

  63. Self-discipline is all about commitment, determination, and the ability to keep going even when things get tough. Practicing self-discipline means saying no to distractions, staying dedicated to your responsibilities, and pushing forward even when motivation fades.

When I take a moment to think about my own journey, I realize that developing self-discipline is not something that happens overnight it’s a continuous effort. 64. The Idea of self-discipline as training is powerful. It reminds us that we’re not just passive observers in our own lives. We have the power to choose how we use our time, what we say, and even how we think. It’s about actively shaping ourselves to be more like God wants us to be.

It's not always easy to make the right choice. We all face temptations and struggles. But when we decide to train ourselves to be mindful of our choices and to resist those things that pull us away from God, we’re taking an active role in becoming the best version of ourselves. Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

This devotion is all about the importance of self-discipline sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng buhay, particularly for those on a spiritual journey. The core message revolves around gaining control over one's thoughts, words, and actions. The ultimate goal of self-discipline is presented as a means to strengthen one's faith and relationship with God. Disciplined living is viewed as a path to spiritual maturity and resilience. This devotion acknowledges the ever-present challenge of temptation and the need for constant vigilance. It encourages active resistance to negative influences. While emphasizing the importance of self-control, the devotion also acknowledges the role of God's grace in overcoming challenges.

Overall, this devotion offers a practical and holistic approach to self-discipline, grounding it within a spiritual framework. It emphasizes the importance of consistent effort, perseverance, and reliance on God's grace in the journey toward self-mastery and spiritual growth.

    Reflection:

Discipline is a very important part of life that we need to consider if we truly want to live better and according to God's will and purpose.

we must discipline our body we should take care of it and keep it clean, because our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). It's important to choose actions that honor God, not just what feels good or easy.

Next, we should also be careful with our words. In Proverbs 13:3, it says:
Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.”
This reminds us that our tongue is powerful kaya dapat, we think not just twice, but as many times as needed before we speak or take action. Not everyone reacts the same what might be okay to one person could hurt another. So, we should always respond wisely and kindly.

When it comes to our feelings and emotions, we also need discipline. We allow anger, frustration, or sadness to take over, and we end up doing things we might regret. We have a choice on how we respond to situations. Before getting angry, we should ask ourselves: "Will this bring any good? Will this change anything?" Just like what Ephesians 4:26 says “In your anger do not sin.”

our faith also requires discipline. Through prayer, reading His Word, and obeying Him, we choose to grow spiritually. And as 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, God gave us a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline , not fear.

I, personally, go to church every Sunday, as a busy student, sobrang hectic ng schedule namin kasi kahit nasa bahay kaharap pa rin namin ung mga libro at mga materials namin, pero nilaan ko ung linggo as my rest day, to go to church and pray, mahirap kasi ung life pero with God everything can ease.

As a college student, I realize that self-discipline is very important in my daily life. It helps me manage my time wisely, focus on my studies, and avoid the things that may lead me away from my goals. I believe that discipline is not only about controlling myself but also about following the guidance of God in everything I do. With His help, I can resist temptations and stay on the right path. I know that when I put God first and practice discipline, I can achieve success in both my studies and my character. In this way, I grow not only as a student but also as a child of God.

Natututunan kong maging mas organisado at produktibo.

    DEVOTIONAL WEEK 2 | REFLECTION:
    Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

In our daily lives as students and believers, self-discipline plays a vital role in helping us grow and stay strong in faith. Just like what the Bible teaches, a person without discipline is like a city without walls—weak and vulnerable. That’s why learning to discipline our body, mind, words, and faith is so important. It may feel difficult at the moment, but discipline shapes our character, gives us strength to overcome temptations, and guides us toward a life with purpose. When we practice self-control in small things—like managing our time, choosing the right words, and setting aside moments for prayer—it prepares us to face bigger challenges in school, work, and real life. Truly, discipline today may be hard, but tomorrow it brings peace, growth, and a stronger foundation in God.

We are bound to sin, that is our nature. Hindi sapat na tayo ay may paniniwala lang, we also need to walk on our beliefs. Whenever we think of any negative thoughts, our minds are tainted. Gaano man yan kalaki o kaliit, it will most likely influence our way of living. How we speak is a reflection of our character. In order for us to live with our values, we should not forget to also maintain our relationship with God. Spiritual discipline is our foundation and guide in journeying the wisdom of God.

WEEK2: MAMUHAY SA DISIPLINA NG SARILI
Discipline is such a simple word, ngunit malaking parte ito ng buhay ko bilang isang ordinaryong tao. It also shape my character and influence my daily interactions. Ngayong week, it's difficult for me to manage my time, but having a self-discipline, it helps me to be more responsible. Because for me, it is about making a concious decjsion to do what you shold do and when you should do it. Discipline also allows me to communicate effectively and respectfully. Kapag galit ako, hindi ako sumisigaw at nagsasalita ng mga masasakit na salita bagkus pinapakalma ko ang aking sarili and after that, I will explain what I want to say without throwing some negativity. Moreover, discipline also reinforces accountability. When I consistently follow through with my commitments, it builds trust with my friends and family. It empahsizes the importance of proper behaviour and right conduct, which serves as a pathway for us to be a good example to others. It reminds me to stay grounded and hopeful.

Discipline has different aspects that we need to develop, control, and be consistent in our actions. It is one of the most important traits that a person must have. It is our foundation for self-growth and success. Discipline helps to stay focused on goals, overcome challenges, and have consistency
. Live a life that is grounded by discipline and commitment.. Life is like a game of chess; we don't need to speak but to act. In everything we do, discipline and temperance in action and words are important. Being disciplined takes time and commitment. Not just in our external personality but also in our internal personality. When we're disciplined enough, it's not easy to be distracted and lose hope in times of challenges.

DEVITIONAL WEEK 2: Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

    Reflection

As Christians, we need self-discipline to stay close to God. Without it, we can easily fall into temptation and sin. While reading about self-discipline, I realized na ito pala yung isa sa pinaka-crucial sa Christian life.

Pero I’m reminded that I don’t have to face it alone—kasama ko si Lord. Through prayer and His Word, doon ako nakakahanap ng lakas to keep going and choose what’s right.

Kaya ang goal ko is to practice self-discipline little by little, every day. Hindi ako magiging perfect, pero as long as willing akong mag-submit kay Lord at magtiwala sa Kanya, alam kong may pagbabago. With God’s help, self-discipline becomes not just a struggle, but a victory.

Discipline is very important in our Christian life. Sabi nga sa Proverbs 25:28, “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”
Una, we need discipline in the body. Our body is the temple of God, so we can maintain it. Little things such as healthy eating, proper rest, at avoiding bad habits are indications that we honor our body. If we are not disciplined, it is easy for sin and temptation to creep into our life.
Pangalawa, meron tayong discipline sa isip at damdamin. Minsan, negative thoughts and feelings yata ang napapahina sa atin. Kaya nagsabi sa 2 Timothy 1:7, God gave us a sound mind.
Words are so powerful—pwede itong bagging life or hurt. If we have self-control on speaking, we can prevent hurting others with harsh or angry words. We can speak instead with grace and courtesy, such as written in Colossians 4:6, "Let your speech be always with grace."
Our spiritual discipline makes us strong.
In summary, self-discipline ain't easy pero ito ay very significant sa ating daily life and faith journey. Sa katawan, isip, pananalita, at pananampalataya—discipline makes us strong and focused. Just like Hebrews 12:11, hard kadtype minsan ang discipline pero eventually, it brings peace and righteousness. Kaya pipiliin kong mamuhay with self-discipline, dahil ito ang magbibigay ng tamang direction at closer relationship with God.

It affects nearly every area of your life from how successful you are in school or work, to how healthy, focused, and confident you become as a person. Success doesn't happen by luck it takes consistent effort, even when you don’t feel like it. Self-discipline helps you stick to your plans and not give up when things get hard. REFLECTION:
Devotional Week 02: Living in Self-Discipline

The moment I've read passage I realized that if I want to be successful in life I should have discipline within myself because a true servant of God knows how to obey His will and discipline herself/himself and if you're a servant of God there's guarantee that you'll be successful in life just as Jeremiah 29:11 stated. Believing in the Lord is good, reading His words is also good but if we don't know how to resist ourselves we're not gonna reach the full potential to please the Lord and be saved. Yes, God is a merciful God and He'll forgive us if we repent our sins but remember He's also a just God so He wants us to obey Him and with that we should know how to discipline ourselves because it's not just for Him but also for ourselves. Upon assessing myself, sometimes I also stumble and can't discipline myself as to what the discipline number 2 says that talks about the discipline of the mind and heart. Sometimes I also think about negative things that will ruin my feelings, so this passage helps me to understand that I should not let the devil win against my mind, that I should neglect those negative thoughts and exchange them with positive ones. Most especially the discipline of the faith, for me this discipline is the most important among all because letting ourselves be disciplined spiritually, just like having time to fast, read the Bible, go to church and obey His words and pray will also lead us to following all the discipline stated in the passage.

Week 2 — Mamuhay sa Disiplina ng Sarili

Self-discipline is very crucial in everyone's life. It is far beyond just taking care about our own body but discipline also for mind, speech, and faith with God, and a lack of discipline will lead us to not properly determine the bad and the good things.

Reading about Living with Self-Discipline or Mamuhay sa Disiplina sa Sarili made me realized how important it is to have self-discipline because it lasts throughout our lives and into our old age. Disiplina sa Sariling Katawan helps us to maintain the strength and health required for our daily tasks. Disiplina sa Isip at Damdamin, we can control how we respond to our problems in life, which leads to more calmer and intelligent decision-making. Disiplina sa Pananalita, on the other hand, enables us to be responsible and careful with the words we use, which improves our relationships with others. Disiplina sa Pananampalataya at Pananalangin strengthens our spiritual connection, gives us hope, and helps us through trials. Overall, these disciplines work together to shape us into people with strong character and the ability to face life with order and purpose.

Self-discipline is essential for a strong faith journey. Without it, we are vulnerable to temptations and struggles, like a city without walls. The Bible teaches that discipline covers not only our physical actions but also our thoughts, emotions, speech, and spiritual life.

We need to manage our bodies through self-control to avoid falling into sin. Our minds and emotions must be guarded against fear and negativity, focusing instead on what is true and uplifting. Our words hold great power, so we must speak with grace and wisdom. Above all, spiritual disciplines like prayer and Bible study keep us grounded in our faith.

Though living disciplined lives is challenging, God empowers us through His Spirit to overcome and stay strong in Him.

Halimbawa, kahit gusto mong magpahinga o mag-cellphone buong araw, kung may kailangan kang tapusin na school work o responsibilidad, pipiliin mong unahin 'yon. Mahirap minsan, lalo na kung andaming temptations around us, pero kapag nasanay kang i-control ang sarili mo, mas madali mong maaabot ang goals mo sa life.
