I Seek First the Kingdom of God || Devotional

I Seek First the Kingdom of God

Biblical Perspective:
Prioritizing our time and resources is a crucial part of aligning our lives with God’s purpose. Matthew 6:33 calls us to seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other things will be added unto us. When we put God’s kingdom first, He orders the rest of our priorities.

Key Verse:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33, KJV)

Devotional Thought:

Life often pulls us in many directions, with countless demands competing for our attention. But Jesus gave us a clear priority: to seek first the kingdom of God. This means putting God’s will, His purposes, and His righteousness above everything else in our lives.

When we prioritize God, He promises to take care of our needs. Instead of chasing after material things or worrying about tomorrow, we can trust that God, who is our Provider, will supply all that we require. Seeking His kingdom shifts our focus from earthly concerns to eternal values and brings peace, purpose, and provision into our lives.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does seeking first the kingdom of God look like in your daily life?
  2. Are there areas in your life where you’ve placed worldly priorities above God?
  3. How can you trust God more to provide for your needs as you focus on His kingdom?

Prayer:

Lord, help me to seek Your kingdom and righteousness above all else. Teach me to trust in Your provision and to focus on the things that matter to You. Align my heart with Your purposes and guide me in living for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Step:

Evaluate your daily schedule and priorities. Dedicate time each day to seek God’s kingdom through prayer, Bible study, and serving others.

    What an insightful read, Sir!

In my daily life, seeking the Kingdom of God first looks like prioritizing peace of mind during stressful situations and silently asking for His guidance before anything. An example of this would be when I cross the street, take an exam, before I eat, or even when I wake up in the morning and before I sleep. Also when I'm reviewing a subject and I feel the drowsiness kicking in.

To answer the second question, I don't think I have put my wordly priorities over God in any area of my life, because God created me and God has planned everything for me, therefore I am only walking in the path that God has always wanted for me. Or else, wouldn't that be like walking towards death?

Lastly, in order to trust God more, I will improve my transparency and righteousness in everything I do. I should lay myself inside out bare to Him, so that in fulfilling His purpose for me, He will be by my side to support and provide for my needs as I walk in the path that He has created. That is all, Sir.

  3. This says that we should first seek God, come to Him, surrender and let God enter our lives. Because He cares.

As Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

God always had a better plan, He create us to seek for Him and not the worldly things. He create us for Him, I/we belong to God, not in this world.

    1. Seeking First the Kingdom of God in Daily Life
Seeking first the kingdom of God in daily life involves prioritizing spiritual growth, prayer, and Bible study. This can be achieved by starting the day with prayer and devotion, reading and applying Scripture to daily life, sharing the Gospel with others, serving others in need, and making decisions that align with God's will and purposes.

    2. Areas Where God Should Come First
To maintain a God-centered life, individuals should prioritize God over worldly pursuits, recognizing that He is the ultimate source of guidance, strength, and provision. This means putting spiritual growth and development above career advancement, financial gain, or other earthly concerns.

    3. Trusting God to Provide for Needs
To trust God more to provide for needs, one should practice gratitude for what God has already provided, read and meditate on Scripture that promises God's provision, share needs with God in prayer and trust in His sovereignty, be obedient to God's will and purposes even when it's difficult, and focus on eternal values and priorities rather than temporary earthly concerns.

    2. Yes, because not everyone is perfect in this world there are times when we can put worldly priorities because that's human as human, but that's bad because we should put God first than everything else in this world.

    3. I trust God more to provide for my needs because they say that everything you overthink in life should be given to him because when you trust, everything will pass through your mind and be fixed, but don't rely on him for everything because they say that mercy is with God and deeds are with man.

To seek the kingdom of God is to be judged for every actions you've ever committed be it good or bad.

There are no other worldly priorities above God as those can seem like what they intended us to have while also prioritizing them still above all else.

God works in many ways such as miracles, placing belief and faith that they will grace us with mercy and love even through our flaws. They well help in ways we don't understand, we simply need to be patient and await the day they reach out to help with our needs and not our wants as God knows us better than ourselves.

1.Seeking the kingdom of God in my everyday life means prioritizing God’s will over my own desires and the pressures of the world. It looks like starting each morning with prayer and scripture, asking for His guidance in my decisions, serving others without expecting anything in return, and striving to live my faith through all that I do.

2.I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve let worldly things take priorities—whether it's chasing career success, seeking approval from others, I’ve felt distant from God and realized I needed to realign my priorities to put Him first again.

3.Learning to trust God more with providing for my needs means letting go of the need to control everything and fully depending. It’s not always easy, especially in a world that tells you to be self-sufficient and independent. But the more I’ve trusted God, the more I’ve seen Him come through in ways I never expected. When I let go of my own plans and trust in His, I’ve found peace and blessings in abundance that I couldn’t have imagined.

    Devotional Week 3
The devotional "I Seek First the Kingdom of God" profoundly resonated with me. Ang core message niya is seeking God's kingdom first, which is a timeless principle, ang pundasyon ng isang buhay na may layunin. The scripture from Matthew 6:33 is powerful; it's not about neglecting our needs, but prioritizing what truly matters. Ang pagtuon sa kaharian ng Diyos ay hindi pagwawalang-bahala sa ating mga pangangailangan, kundi pagkilala sa Kanyang paglalaan.

The reflection questions were thought-provoking. They challenged me to examine my daily life: Saan ko ba inilalagay ang aking mga priorities? Am I truly seeking God's kingdom first, or am I caught up in the endless cycle of worldly pursuits? The prayer offered a beautiful guide for seeking God's guidance and aligning my heart with His purposes. Isang makapangyarihang panalangin na nagpapaalala sa atin ng ating pag-asa kay Kristo.

The action step—evaluating my daily schedule and dedicating time to prayer, Bible study, and serving others is a practical application of the devotional's message. It's a call to action, a challenge to live out what I've learned. Isang hamon na baguhin ang ating pamumuhay at iayon ito sa kalooban ng Diyos or tinatawag nating God's will.

In summary, this devotional is a reminder that true fulfillment comes from seeking God's kingdom, not from chasing earthly possessions or achievements.

Seeking God's kingdom daily means aligning my thoughts, actions, and desires with His will. It’s about starting my day with prayer and scripture, not just as a routine but as a way of staying connected with Him. It means making decisions with a mindset that reflects God’s values—choosing love over selfishness, generosity over greed, and obedience over convenience. Seeking God’s kingdom means that in every interaction, I strive to reflect Christ’s love and truth.

When I reflect honestly, I see moments when work, financial security, or personal ambitions take center stage over my relationship with God. Sometimes, the pursuit of success, comfort, or approval from others overshadows my trust in God’s plan. It’s easy to get caught up in worry about the future or to rely more on my own efforts rather than surrendering fully to God’s guidance. Recognizing these misplaced priorities helps me recalibrate my heart and refocus on what truly matters.

Trusting God’s provision requires surrender—letting go of fear and embracing faith. God has always been faithful in the past, and remembering His goodness gives me confidence that He will continue to provide. I can trust Him more by choosing to pray instead of worry, by seeking contentment instead of striving for more, and by reminding myself that God’s provision is not just about material needs but also about spiritual peace and purpose. As I focus on His kingdom, I am learning that true security is not in what I can accumulate but in the God who holds all things in His hands.

A devotion based on the Book of Matthew can offer powerful insights into the life and teachings of Jesus. Below is a devotion on Matthew, scriptures that encourage personal growth and deepen faith:The Gospel of Matthew

In this powerful verse, Jesus extends an invitation to all who are weary and burdened, promising rest. Life can feel overwhelming at times. Whether it's the pressures of work, relationships, or simply the weight of life's challenges, we all experience moments of exhaustion. Jesus, in His love and grace, calls us to come to Him for rest—not just physical rest, but peace for our souls.

Matthew’s Gospel emphasizes Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies and as the King who brings a kingdom not of this world but one of peace, righteousness, and spiritual rest. Jesus offers rest not as a mere escape from the world’s troubles but as a deeper, soul-satisfying rest found only in Him. He understands our burdens, and He invites us to lay them at His feet, trusting that He will carry them for us

Jesus Knows Our Struggles: In Matthew, we see Jesus as the compassionate Savior who is aware of the struggles we face. He doesn't promise an easy life, but He offers to walk with us through our burdens, providing comfort and strength
The Invitation is for All: Jesus' invitation is open to everyone—no one is too far gone or too weary to come to Him. Whether you're struggling with sin, fear, or doubt, His arms are wideTrue rest is found in surrendering our worries, anxieties, and burdens to Jesus. It's not about doing less but trusting more. Jesus calls us to take His yoke upon ourselves, which is easy and light compared to the heavy burdens w

When was the last time you truly rested in Jesus? In the busyness of life, it's easy to forget that Jesus offers us rest. Take a moment to pause, breathe, and bring your burdens before HimThis verse reminds us that when we focus on God—His truth, His ways, and His purpose for us—He takes care of our needs. It doesn't mean life will be free from struggles, but it does mean that we can trust Him to provide, guide, and sustain us.
Is there something weighing you down that you need to lay at His feet today? Whether it's a fear, worry, or a past mistake, give it to Jesus in prayer, trusting He will give you peace
"Lord Jesus, thank You for Your invitation to come to You with our burdens. We confess that sometimes we try to carry the weight of life on our own. Help us to trust in Your promises and rest in Your peace. We give You our worries and seek Your guidance and strength today's

Seeking first the Kingdom of God will be our foundation in life. Let God be the center of everything we do. Commit to the Lord all our worries and challenges that we're facing. Start a day with him through prayers. A prayer is the most powerful tool to communicate with him. Do an action and make decisions that honor Him. Prioritize what truly matters and appreciate what we have.
I have to admit that sometimes chasing my dreams leads me to a different path. When I feel bombarded by challenges and feel like everything seems to be falling apart, I'm forgetting that I have God. But, as time goes by, I slowly realize that if I put God in the center of everything, I will feel ease. God knows what is best and what I truly need. I just need to seek help for Him. I realized that if he gave me a life challenge, he didn't want me to suffer or "lumayo sakanya," but he wanted me to be closer to him. He's just trying to see how faithful I am to him.
I can trust God by remembering his faithfulness and believing in His word, ability, and reliability. I know that he will always provide what I need in life. Focusing on His Kingdom means understanding His plan for me. Always connect with Him and trust Him with all my heart. Let him be the center of everything.

Yes, always serving him ,going to church to worship everyday because, if we have a problem He is always here that's why we just call him because through our communication with him we get closer to him and we make it a priority to always talk to him in joy or in problems he is the one we can talk to who is willing to listen and willing to listen to us because God is everything .He is also our guide in everyday life.

For the second question, as a student I have to admit that sometimes I prioritize worldly priorities above God. I trust Jesus na hindi niya ako hahayaang mapalayo sa kaharian niya, ipapanalangin ang lahat lalo na sa mga pagkukulang sa kanya. But patuloy pa ding nagpapatuloy sa kanya.

I trust Jesus that he provides all my needs everyday. Hindi magwoworry para sa bukas kundi haharapin lamang ang bagong araw bagkus si Lord na ang bahalang magprovide ng lahat ng aking pangangailangan para sa bukas.

In my daily life, seeking first the kingdom of God means starting each day with prayer and reflection on scripture. This helps me align my thoughts and actions with God's will, ensuring that my decisions and interactions reflect His love and wisdom.

I recognize that there are times when worldly priorities have overshadowed my devotion to God. The pursuit of academic excellence, for instance, can sometimes consume my thoughts and energy, leaving little room for spiritual growth. Acknowledging these imbalances is crucial, as it allows me to realign my priorities and ensure that God remains at the center of my life.

To trust God more in providing for my needs, I strive to cultivate a deeper faith through consistent prayer and gratitude. By focusing on the blessings I already have, rather than worrying about what I lack, I am reminded of God's provision and care.

Seeking God's Kingdom is about prioritizing God. It can be through worship, compassion or sharing God's given gifts.

Wordly priorities are one of the reasons why one can be lead astray between the relationship of God and a certain person. One may have had placed worldly priorities before God, but still suffered in the end is due to their negligence towards their relationship with God.

Therefore, one must learn to put their faith in God. In order to do that, they should: study the bible, spend time with fellowship, meditate and pray.

Seeking first the kingdom of God involves talking to him before making a decision, especially during a hard time. I practice not to let my emotions control me to avoid impulsive actions. When you seek for the guidance of God, your life will be anchored based on his values and principles, which will help you overcome those fears and challenges. In my daily routine, it could look like serving others selflessly and aligning my work or personal goals with God's purpose. Whether at school or relationships, my first thought should be, "How does this align with God's will for my life?".

Yes, there are a lot of times where I prioritize other things rather than spiritual growth. Due to distractions, like social media, I always caught myself doing the same toxic practice over and over again. I was more focused on achieving personal goals rather than relying on God for my needs. These became a hindrance in seeking God first.

Trusting God more means letting go of my worries and doubts and remembering that He knows my needs before I even ask. He is faithful to provide for me. I can build trust by praying regularly, asking for His guidance, and being thankful for what I already have. When challenges come, I can remind myself that God is always with me, and His provision, though sometimes different from what I expect, is always perfect for me.

Life can be too much to handle. School obligations, and future plans are just a few of the numerous things that pull me in different directions, and occasionally I get sucked into it all. However, Matthew 6:33 [ "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." ] serves as a reminder that pursuing God's kingdom should always come first, regardless of how hectic or uncertain life becomes. The rest falls into place when I prioritize Him.

Seeking God's kingdom, in my opinion, involves finding time for Him despite a busy schedule. It involves praying because I sincerely want to get closer to Him, not just when I need something. It involves reading the Bible as a means of comprehending His heart, not just as a habit. It also involves making decisions that are consistent with His righteousness. Choosing kindness over pride, faith over fear, and obedience over convenience.

If I’m being honest, there have been times when I’ve placed other things above God. Sometimes, I worry too much about my future, my studies, or whether I’m doing enough to succeed. I catch myself chasing after security and control instead of simply trusting that God already has everything figured out. But this verse reminds me that I don’t have to strive so hard to make everything work on my own. If I focus on Him, He will take care of me.

Trusting God more means letting go of unnecessary worries and believing that He will provide for everything I need. It’s not always easy, but I know that when I align my life with His will, He will guide me every step of the way. At the end of the day, nothing in this world matters more than living for Him.

    1. In my daily life, putting God's Kingdom first means prioritizing serenity during tough times and seeking His guidance before making any decisions, remembering Philippians 4:6-7, which says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This verse reminds me that true peace comes from trusting God, and when I seek Him first, He provides the wisdom and calmness I need to handle any situation.

    2. There are times when I’ve placed worldly priorities above God, particularly in my future career and distractions. I often catch myself overthinking and making decisions based on what seems most secure, rather than first seeking God. Sometimes, I rely too much on my own plans instead of surrendering to Him. But Psalm 46:5 reminds me, “God is within her, she will not fall.” This verse reassures me that as long as I am seeking Him first, I don’t have to fear failure. Even when things seem uncertain, I can trust that God is holding me up.

    3. I can trust God more by stepping out in faith, even when it feels uncertain. This might mean being generous, even when money is tight, or following His guidance, even when I don’t fully understand the plan. I hold on to Matthew 6:33, which reminds me that when I put God’s Kingdom first, He will provide for my needs.

1.Seeking first the kingdom of God is a call to prioritize our relationship with God and to seek His will above all else. It's a promise that when we do, God will provide for our needs and give us everything we need. May we seek God's kingdom first, and may we experience the freedom, peace, and joy that comes from following Him.

2.May we seek God's guidance and wisdom as we strive to align our priorities with His will.

    3. By implementing these strategies, you'll grow in your trust of God's provision and care, and you'll be more confident in His ability to meet your needs as you focus on His kingdom.

In my daily life, seeking God's Kingdom began by the time I wake up in the morning. I ask God about the things I should do during the day in order to please Him. This become my guidance throughout the day that helped me to survive with true happiness and gratitude.

There are always a time that I am distracted that it made me prioritize worldy things. For example, I sometimes prioritize resting and playing mobile games during Sundays instead of attending church and praise the Lord.

Whenever I feel like I am lacking something, I always pray to God for the help and He always blesses me with abundance. And when in doubt the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 which says “'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." always keeps me grateful and trust what the Lord had planned.

Seeking first the kingdom of God is like a daily praying and asking for God's help before I make a decision in life. For me, choosing what God wants me to do and prioritize in life will give me peace.

To be honest, there are areas in my life where I’ve placed worldly priorities above God and the result is not good. Also, I realize that placing worldly priorities above God is not for long term happiness. We will never be happy at the end if we bought something but not essential over something that we need. It will ruin our spiritual relationship with God and at the end, we might regret.

I already fail so many times in life and yet God is still there reminding me that even though how many times I lose, I am not a failure, but I am a child of God who is also first time living in this earth and not a perfect person. I trust the decision of God and what He wants me to be. When I feel anxious, I keep on reminding myself that God will protect me so, I am not afraid to face every challenge that life throws to me anymore.

    1. By seeing the God's Kingdom will lead us in our way to our purpose. The kingdom that they say is the churches that we have, here we are having our faith in god. By seeking his kingdom God will provide our needs in our lives.

    2. Maybe we need things we want to do, like we want to enjoy life, but we still need to live and keep the Lord in mind in our lives in what we do because, he will guide us to achieve these things.

3.I can trust god to provide our needs, because he our provider. He is the one who will know more about us, he has our planned and purpose in life, so we need to trust him. We need to seek his kingdom to have faith and be thankful what he provide us in everyday.

    1. Seeking first the kingdom of God in my daily life looks like a whole day of powerful and blissful day, for it is started with prayer.
    2. Yes, there are times that I prioritized something instead of going to church on sundays.
    3. Sometimes trusting God doesn't need explanation, all you need to do is to pray and obey Him. Do all you can do, but when it's not within your reach always realize that it's not your battle anymore, it's God's. Stay still on his promises, why? Because He is God.

Seeking first the kingdom of God is making Him the priority over the things of the world. Activities such as reading His word, communicating with other believers, conversing with God are just some of the thinga that we can do. But unfortunately, there areas in my life where I've placed worldly priorities above God such as my hobbies and my studies. And at some point, I would feel the thirst but I'm using these earthly desires to fulfill it.

God never fails us. His plan may not be the one that we want, but I know, that His ways are better. Additionally, trust Him better even though things don't go the way they want.

Seeking the kingdom of God first in my daily life I thank the Lord every morning because I am still awake and strong, just like my parents.

Sometimes I prioritize gaming and social media or whatever but I don't forget God, my strength and guidance in daily life is good

I trust in God because everything that happens to us has a purpose, we have problems but they are resolved quickly. They say when you stumble even if you get caught, don't worry because the Lord has a plan for everything and will not abandon you.

  53. In a world full of distractions, responsibilities, and ambitions, it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of success, financial security, and personal fulfillment. However, Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:33 remind us that our first and foremost priority should be God’s kingdom and His righteousness. When we align our lives with His will, everything else falls into place according to His perfect plan.

Seeking God's kingdom first doesn’t mean neglecting our daily responsibilities; rather, it means approaching them with a heart that honors Him. It means making choices that reflect His values, trusting that He will provide for our needs, and walking in obedience even when it requires faith.

    1. Seeking first the kingdom of God in daily life is a journey of transformation. It requires us to constantly realign our hearts, actions, and priorities with God’s will, to reflect His values in our interactions, to serve others with love and humility, and to trust in His provision. It’s about making God’s kingdom—the reign of His love, justice, and peace—the guiding force in all that we do. In doing so, we experience a life filled with purpose, meaning, and joy, rooted in the assurance that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. As we seek His kingdom first, we not only enrich our own lives but also become instruments through which His kingdom can be established on Earth.

    2. In acknowledging these areas where worldly priorities can overpower my spiritual commitment, it becomes clear that these distractions do not provide lasting fulfillment. They may offer momentary satisfaction, but they cannot replace the peace, joy, and purpose that come from placing God first. The challenge, then, is not to avoid the world or its material benefits altogether but to find balance by ensuring that God remains the central priority in all areas of life. By continually seeking His presence, engaging in prayer, and making intentional choices to serve and love others as Christ taught, I can work toward restoring God’s rightful place in my heart and actions. Ultimately, it is the reminder that all things come from Him and that true fulfillment comes when we prioritize our relationship with God above all else.

3.Trusting God to provide for our needs as we focus on His kingdom involves deepening our understanding of His promises, surrendering control, reflecting on His faithfulness, practicing gratitude, investing in His kingdom, and living in prayerful dependence. Each of these steps contributes to a life of trust in God’s provision. As we seek first His kingdom, we can rest assured that He will meet our needs, not because of our own efforts but because of His faithfulness and love. In doing so, we experience the peace that comes from knowing that God, who is sovereign over all things, is our ultimate provider.

By letting go of authority, praying expectantly, and obeying even when it doesn't make sense. He handles everything else in ways we could never handle on our own while we focus on His kingdom. Maybe it's in where we focus our energies, what we think about, or how we spend our time. The Holy Spirit is gently urging us to go back to the simplicity and strength of seeking Him first.
