The GLOBAL FILIPINO DREAM

THE GLOBAL FILIPINO DREAM

From Survival to Global Revival

A Missions Orientation Inspired by International Teams Philippines

INTRODUCTION

The Filipino Dream Reimagined

For many years, the Filipino dream was simple:

  • To leave the country
  • To work abroad
  • To provide for family
  • To survive poverty
  • To search for opportunity

For decades, millions of Filipinos crossed oceans carrying:

  • sacrifice,
  • loneliness,
  • hope,
  • and responsibility.

The Filipino became known around the world as:

  • hardworking,
  • adaptable,
  • trustworthy,
  • resilient,
  • compassionate.

But what if this global scattering is not accidental?

What if God is transforming the Filipino dream into something greater?

Not merely:

  • to earn dollars,
  • build careers,
  • or escape hardship—

but to bring light to nations.

The Global Filipino Dream is the belief that God is strategically positioning Filipinos across the earth for Kingdom purposes.

Not just global workers.

But global witnesses.

I. HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPINES

A Nation Prepared Through History

The history of the Philippines is a story of preparation.

The nation experienced:

  • colonization,
  • suffering,
  • war,
  • migration,
  • economic struggle,
  • political upheaval,
  • and spiritual influence.

For more than 300 years, the Philippines was under Spanish rule. Christianity became deeply rooted in Filipino culture. Churches were built across the islands, and biblical language became familiar to the people.

After Spain came the Americans, bringing:

  • Public education
  • English language
  • Democratic influence
  • Global exposure

Then came World War II, Japanese occupation, poverty, political struggles, and economic instability.

Economic instability later pushed millions of Filipinos overseas.

Over time, the Philippines became one of the world’s largest labor-exporting nations.

Yet hidden within this painful history,
God may have been preparing a missionary people.

The Filipino developed unique qualities:

  • adaptability,
  • hospitality,
  • relational warmth,
  • endurance, Resilience
  • cross-cultural flexibility,
  • and spiritual openness.

Historically, the Philippines became one of the largest exporters of workers in the world.

Millions of Filipinos left home:

  • Nurses
  • Seafarers
  • Caregivers
  • Engineers
  • Teachers
  • Domestic workers
  • Skilled professionals

Many saw this only as economic necessity.

But International Teams Philippines challenges believers to see a greater picture:

What if the global scattering of Filipinos is part of God’s sovereign design?

Just as Israel experienced dispersion in history,
Filipinos today are scattered among nations.

But scattered people can become strategic people in God’s hands.

These are missionary qualities.

Acts 17:26 declares:

“And hath made of one blood all nations of men… and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.”

God determines where nations are positioned.

History may not merely be political.

History may also be prophetic.

II. The FILIPINO DIASPORA

Scattered but Sent

The word “diaspora” means scattering.

In Scripture, God repeatedly used scattering to spread His purposes.

Acts 8:1 says:

“…and they were all scattered abroad…”

Then verse 4 declares:

“Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.”

The early Church did not merely grow through gatherings.

It expanded through scattering.

Today, Filipinos are present in almost every nation on earth:

  • hospitals,
  • ships,
  • universities,
  • hotels,
  • businesses,
  • homes,
  • corporations,
  • factories,
  • digital industries.

Even countries closed to traditional missionaries often welcome Filipino workers.

This creates a modern mission strategy.

A nurse may enter where a preacher cannot.
A teacher may enter where churches are forbidden.
A businessman may enter restricted nations.
An OFW may become a light in spiritually dark places.

International Teams Philippines strongly emphasizes this reality:
The Filipino diaspora may become one of the greatest mission opportunities of modern history.

Filipinos are not merely scattered economically.

They may be spiritually deployed.

III. PROPHECY

A Prophetic Role Among Nations

The Global Filipino Dream carries a prophetic dimension.

International Teams Philippines often presents the Philippines within the context of prophetic destiny and global missions.

The movement emphasizes that God raises nations in certain generations for Kingdom purposes.

Isaiah 60:1–3 becomes significant:

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come… And the Gentiles shall come to thy light…”

The emphasis is not national pride.
It is Kingdom responsibility.

The prophetic burden is this:

God is raising Filipino believers to become carriers of light among nations.

Not prophecy centered on nationalism—
but on Kingdom responsibility.

Throughout Scripture, God positioned certain people groups strategically in history.

Joseph was positioned in Egypt.
Daniel in Babylon.
Esther in Persia.

Esther 4:14 says:

“…who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Perhaps the Filipino people have also been positioned globally for such a time as this.

Isaiah 60:1–3 says:

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come…”

The emphasis is not Filipino greatness.

The emphasis is Kingdom assignment.

God may use Filipino believers as:

  • bridge-builders,
  • revival carriers,
  • peacemakers,
  • disciple-makers,
  • and missionaries among nations.

IV. KAIROS MOMENT

God’s Appointed Time

“Kairos” means God’s appointed moment.

International Teams Philippines teaches that this generation may be a Kairos moment for the Filipino Church.

Why?

Because never before in history have:

  • Millions of Filipinos are overseas
  • Technology connects nations instantly
  • Travel is easier than past generations
  • Digital ministry crosses borders
  • Nations are more reachable than ever before

This is more than globalization.

This may be divine timing.

Matthew 9:37 says:

“The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.”

The challenge is not whether nations are reachable.

The harvest is ready.

The question is:
Will the Church respond?

The challenge is whether believers will respond.

This generation has access previous generations never had:

  • instant communication,
  • affordable travel,
  • online evangelism,
  • diaspora communities,
  • marketplace influence,
  • digital missions.

ITeams strongly emphasizes urgency because opportunities may not remain open forever.

This generation has access previous generations never had.

This is a Kairos moment.

V. THE GREAT COMMISSION

The Heartbeat of Missions

The Great Commission is not optional.

Matthew 28:19 says:

Matthew 28:19–20 says:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”

This command was not given only to pastors or missionaries.

It was given to the Church.

The Great Commission is:

  • A command
  • A calling
  • A responsibility
  • A lifestyle

But to every believer.

International Teams Philippines strongly teaches:
Every Christian has a role in global missions.

Some go.
Some send.
Some support.
Some mobilize.
Some disciple.
Some pray.

But all participate.

Acts 1:8 is foundational:

“But ye shall receive power… and ye shall be witnesses…”

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is connected to global witness.

Pentecost itself was missionary in nature.

The Gospel was immediately spoken across languages and cultures.

The Holy Spirit empowers believers to cross:

  • cultural barriers,
  • language barriers,
  • national barriers,
  • and spiritual darkness.

The fire of Pentecost was never meant to remain inside church buildings.

It was meant for nations.

VI. PURPOSE & BLESSINGS

Blessed to Become a Blessing

God blesses with purpose.

Genesis 12:2 says:

“…and thou shalt be a blessing.”

Abraham was blessed so nations could encounter God.

The same principle applies today.

God may bless:

  • your career,
  • your education,
  • your overseas contract,
  • your business,
  • your profession,
  • your influence—

not merely for comfort,
but for Kingdom impact.

The Global Filipino Dream transforms the mindset from:
“Lord bless me for myself”
to:
“Lord use me for the nations.”

Blessing becomes stewardship.

Success becomes mission.

Opportunity becomes assignment.

VII. DIVINE OPPORTUNITY

The Modern Mission Field

The mission field today looks very different.

The modern world created unprecedented opportunities:

  • diaspora missions,
  • digital evangelism,
  • marketplace ministry,
  • online discipleship,
  • professional missions,
  • tentmaking ministry.

Traditional missions is no longer the only model.

Now:

  • teachers disciple students,
  • nurses lead Bible studies,
  • businessmen plant fellowships,
  • content creators evangelize online,
  • OFWs become missionaries.

The mission field is now:

  • global,
  • digital,
  • mobile,
  • and interconnected.

The nations are more reachable than ever before.

This is divine opportunity.

VIII. CALL TO MISSION: URGENCY

The Harvest Cannot Wait

International Teams Philippines carries a strong sense of urgency.

Why?

Because millions still have not heard the Gospel clearly.

Romans 10:14 asks:

“…how shall they hear without a preacher?”

Jesus said in John 4:35:

“…lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”

The need is urgent.

The laborers are few.

The Church must move:

  • from comfort to sacrifice,
  • from maintenance to mobilization,
  • from spectatorship to participation.

Missions is not merely an activity.

It is the heartbeat of God.

The urgency is not driven by fear—
but by love for people and obedience to Christ.

IX. FINAL CHALLENGE

From OFW to Global Witness

Today, Filipinos are already among the nations.

The question is no longer:
“Can Filipinos go globally?”

The question is:
“Will Filipino believers recognize their assignment?”

You may think:

  • “I am only a worker.”
  • “I am only an OFW.”
  • “I am only a student.”
  • “I am ordinary.”

But throughout Scripture,
God uses ordinary people.

He used:

  • fishermen,
  • shepherds,
  • prisoners,
  • exiles,
  • tentmakers,
  • foreign workers.

God specializes in using available vessels.

Isaiah 6:8 says:

“Whom shall I send…?”

And Isaiah responded:

“Here am I; send me.”

The Global Filipino Dream is ultimately this:

To see Filipino believers carrying:

  • the Gospel,
  • the love of Christ,
  • the power of the Holy Spirit,
  • and the fire of revival among the nations of the earth.

Not merely surviving globally.

But shining globally.

Matthew 5:14

“Ye are the light of the world.”

Perhaps this is your Kairos moment.

Perhaps God has positioned your life for global purpose.

And perhaps the Filipino people are not merely scattered globally—

but spiritually deployed by God.

ACCESS MISSION ORIENTATION

ACCESS MISSION ORIENTATION

International Teams Philippines

WHAT IS ACCESS MISSION TRAINING?

ACCESS Mission Training is the official entry-level missionary preparation program of International Teams Philippines.

It is designed to:

  • Mobilize believers for global missions
  • Equip future missionaries
  • Introduce the mission culture and philosophy of ITeams
  • Prepare workers for cross-cultural ministry
  • Train ordinary believers to become effective global witnesses

According to ITeams Philippines, ACCESS consists of two phases:

ACCESS 1

An intensive classroom or virtual mission training introducing:

  • The identity of ITeams
  • Mission philosophy
  • Kingdom vision
  • Global missions mindset
  • Missionary lifestyle
  • Cross-cultural preparation

ACCESS 2

A one-week Southeast Asia mission exposure trip in nations like:

  • Thailand

  • Vietnam
  • Singapore

This phase allows trainees to experience actual mission field exposure under existing mission teams.

The purpose is not merely information —
but transformation.

ITeams believes that missions is not only for pastors or wealthy Christians.

Ordinary believers can become missionaries through faith, training, and obedience.

IT PHILS HISTORY

ITeams Philippines Official Site

International Teams Philippines emerged from the growing realization that Filipinos possess a unique role in world missions.

Over the past 25 years, ITeams has seen Filipino missionaries deployed to many nations worldwide.

The movement developed around:

  • Faith-based missions
  • Global Filipino identity
  • Tentmaking missions
  • Mission mobilization
  • Southeast Asian outreach
  • Church partnership

Historically, the Philippines became one of the largest sources of overseas workers.

ITeams saw this not merely as economic migration —
but as divine positioning.

Instead of asking:
“How can Filipinos survive abroad?”

They began asking:
“How can Filipinos impact nations for Christ?”

This became part of the Global Filipino Dream.

ITeams uniquely emphasizes the prophetic role of Filipinos in world missions.

  • Professional careers

6. Exposure-Based Training

ACCESS 2 gives actual field exposure instead of classroom learning alone.

BECAUSE OF THIS UNIQUENESS...

Because of this uniqueness:

  • Many believers discover their calling
  • Ordinary workers become missionaries
  • OFWs become tentmakers
  • Churches gain global vision
  • Young people become mobilized
  • Nations become reachable through diaspora missions

7th CUTTING EDGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2024 Information Pack # 1

BASIC INFORMATION

1.HONGKONG CONFERENCE INFO PACK

This will be the official source of information on anything/everything related to our 7th CUTTING EDGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2024 in HONG KONG and ACCESS 2 MISSION TRAINING to be held in MACAU.

2. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

Online registration for the conference is open. You need to complete the registration so our event organizers could include your name in our conference participants list, work on your immigration documents, prepare your conference ID’s, T-shirts and conference materials, meals, and snacks and many more action points to ensure that your flight and participation in our conference will be worry free and seamless.

3. HONGKONG ENTRY VISA

There is no need for an Entry Visa for a Filipino to enter Hong Kong. All you need to present to the Hong Kong airport authorities are your passport, a return ticket and if asked, purpose of visit and proof of accommodation during your stay in the country (to be provided by our office). Please double check your passports expiration date. The Philippine immigration officers won’t allow you to leave the country if your travel date falls within 6 months prior to expiration. If you are Philippine born but holding a non-Philippines passport, you must check with the Chinese embassy for their visa requirements for citizens of the country shown on your passport. For other nationalities who need to apply for entry visa to Hong Kong, our office will provide the necessary documents – invitation to the conference, status as IT missionary or trainee, etc.

4. AIRLINE TICKETS

You may directly book your flights at your desired airlines or the travel agency of your choice.

Hong Kong Express, a new airline entry in the Philippines, continues to offer good promo rates. This airline is owned by Cathay Pacific Airlines. We have used this airline in last year’s Cutting Edge Conference in Hong Kong with a good level of satisfaction. Their promo rates are still available but just like any airlines their rates may change any day. Cebu Pacific continues to be a good option for cheaper flights and recently has brought down their flight costs possibly to match the new entrant.

Please take advantage of the low airline rates. As of this writing, the cost of round-trip ticket is much lower than a plane trip to Davao, Palawan, Ilocos Norte, and other provinces in our country. The rates may not hold for long so don’t wait for the price to go down. The possibility is far more in favor of costs going up.

5. AIRPORT IN HONGKONG

The main airport in Hong Kong is the HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (HKG). The airport is also referred to as CHEK LAP KOK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. The airport is situated on the island of Chek Lap Kok in western Hong Kong. The distance between the airport and Hong Kong City Center is 34 km.

·

6. CONFERENCE DATES:

A. CUTTING EDGE CONFERENCE in HONGKONG

Dates: NOVEMBER 27-29, 2024

B. ACCESS 2 MISSION TRAINING in HONGKONG

Dates: NOVEMBER 30 – December 4, 2024

7. CONFERENCE FEES

A contribution of US$80 or P4,000 per participant will help cover expenses on venue rental, and lunch meals, snacks, conference materials, honorariums, etc… Early registration offers a huge discount too, so sign up early to avail of the lower registration cost.

The conference fee covers already ACCESS 2 Training registration. There is no separate fee anymore on ACCESS 2 except for their budget for the expenses that will be incurred on their 5 days training. Their budget will include mainly accommodation, transportation, and meals for the almost weeklong training. ACCESS 2 budget will be discussed during the briefings for Access 2 participants.

8. CONFERENCE PROGRAM

Conference program, conference theme and speakers’ profile will be provided on the next Info Pack.

9. CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS

All ITP missionaries, alumni and partners are invited to the conference. If you would like to invite your friends or relatives to the conference, we would require that they be of the same faith. The conference is not an evangelistic gathering, and the topics will not suit those coming from a different religious background.

They will be classified as SPECIAL GUESTS.

10. ACCOMODATIONS

We are compiling a list of accommodation options which will be posted on the next Info Pack. There are hotels offering dormitory type rooms and backpackers hotel that will be included in the list. We are also looking for possible hosting groups that could accommodate for free some of our least funded members.

11. PRE-DEPARTURE BRIEFINGS

Our office will provide an important pre-departure briefing/meeting to be handled by our office support staffs, a few days before your departure. The objective is to prepare all of you for your airport immigration encounter – both here and in Hong Kong. We want to make sure that all bases are covered well before sending you out to Hong Kong. You will be provided with all the required departure documents to include ITP documents stating the nature of the event, conference program, and accommodation guarantee, etc.

12. TRAVEL CLEARANCE

The Philippine government requires all government employees to first secure clearance before they are allowed to travel outside of the country. If you are a government employee and could not present the document upon the demand of our airport immigration authority, you will be denied boarding. Please make sure you secure one as early as possible. We have missionaries in the past who were not allowed to board because of their failure to attend to this important requirement. Our office will issue the needed certification explaining the reason for your trip to Hong Kong.

13. VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER HONG KONG

Q: I am not vaccinated. Can I come to Hong Kong ?

A. The Hong Kong government has lifted the vaccination requirements for all incoming travelers to Hong Kong.

Q Do I need a Covid Vaccination Certificate to enter Hong Kong?

A: No, you don’t. Currently, Covid Vaccination passport of certificates are no longer required to enter Hong Kong.

Just like in any airport, there will be temperature checks upon arrival (you would not even notice it. They have scanners pointed at all arriving passengers that would indicate the temperature level of all individuals) Those found with feverish symptoms will be referred to their department of health for further handling.

14. PRAYERS AND INTERCESSION

Please always include the conference and the organizing staffs in your prayers. Pray also for GOD’s provision for all those who will be attending the conference. Pray for the 7th CUTTING EDGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2024 in HONGKONG and ACCESS 2 MISSION TRAINING in MACAU to be fruitful and successful.

Looking forward to walking the streets of Hong Kong and Macau with you !!!

ALL FOR GOD’S HONOR AND GLORY!!!

7th CUTTING EDGE CONF IN HONGKONG INFO PACK #5 ( For Other Nationalities)

7th CUTTING EDGE CONF IN HONGKONG INFO PACK #5 ( For Other Nationalities)

7th CUTTING EDGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2024 in HONGKONG .... may I have more info , pls! (Letters & Info Packs)

Dear brothers and sisters from other nations,

We are so pleased to know that you have decided to join our Cutting Edge Leadership Conference in Hongkong. We will be greatly honored by your presence at the event.

The four (4) Info Packs that we released would be useful as you navigate your way to and in Hongkong for the conference. However, we do recognize that it is lacking in the areas that could fully address the needs of those coming from other countries. So, we will try to cover those in this Info Pack, specially designed for non-Filipino nationals.

Here are some useful info …

A. ENTRY VISAS to HONGKONG

Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People’s of China) is a part of Mainland China.

We leave it up to each foreign nationals to determine HONGKONG entry visa requirements for visiting foreigners to their country. Hongkong accorded every Filipino nationals visa free privilege which means they can just enter Hongkong simply with a Philippine passport at hand and are allowed to stay for 14 days without a visa for whatever reason. However, Filipinos who possess non-Philippine passport (ex. Taiwanese passport holder) are still required to apply for an entry visa to Hongkong

Formal invitation documents coming from International Teams Phils detailing the event will be sent to you should you request for one. Please supply us with embassy information (name of the embassy and complete address) that we will use on the documents.

B. TRANSIT VISAS

We had several sorry incidents in our previous conferences where several of our foreign guests were unable to join the conference even if they already have entry visas. They thought that since they already have their visas, flying thru or transiting (lay over) in another country before proceeding to their destination will no longer require another visa, since they will just be staying in the airport. Their assumption was wrong. They were not allowed to continue and were sent back to their country of origin due to the absence of a transit visa. Not all airports require transit visas though to most foreign nationals. Please double check with your airline provider if there is a need to secure one, in order to have it ready before your flight.

C. AIRPORT ASSISTANCE

NO AIRPORT ASSISTANCE … We don’t have anyone to welcome you at the airport upon your arrival. The Info Packs were made to serve as your information source and guide on your visit to Hongkong for the conference. It contains detailed instructions on travel from the airport to locations in and around Hongkong, and many other airport related concerns. Please print them out and bring with you to serve as your reference documents.

D. LANGUAGE TRANSLATION SERVICES

1. Language: We will provide English translations of Tagalog (Filipino) messages. (Vietnamese, Chinese and Bahasa (Indonesia & Malaysia) translations of Tagalog/ English messages will depend entirely on the availability of translators.)

The translators will only be able to provide the gist, or the substance /essence of the message being conveyed and not a word for word translation. The translators will not be standing up on the stage with the speakers. They will be at the back of the posts portion of the hall and will speak thru a wireless translation equipment to talk to the non- Tagalog/Filipino participants.

2. Translators: We have a team of missionaries who are assigned to take turns in providing the translation service. The lead translator is: Ptr. Jules Ostan . He will be assisted by the following: Hannah Deborah Abuan, Ptr. Tony Mendoza, Sis Ana Tuquero, Ning Insauriga, and Dr. John Duong. For the Vietnamese participants, Dr. john Duong will provide the translation.. Sis Ning Insauriga will oversee the translation services for Bahasa speaking participants.

3. Designated Area: The last rows at the back, close to the posts, will seat all foreign nationals who will need translation service, since it will be the closest to the translator and will offer less audio signal distortion. Headphones and receiving devices will be entrusted to each one and must be returned immediately to the translator after use. Our wireless transmitters are limited and we can only serve 30 individuals at a time.

4. Wireless Equipment: A wireless headset will be provided per individual. Our wireless equipment setup can serve only 30 individuals at a time. Please look for Kathy Merencillo or Jerald Sinsay if you know anyone who would be needing this service, please inform and assist them to the designated staff.

E. INVITATIONS & OTHER DOCUMENTS for IMMIGRATION PURPOSES

A set of documents for immigration purposes will be supplied to all participants - Filipinos and other nationalities.. For the foreign nationals, our conference organizers will send the documents to the email address that you'll provide. The Filipino participants will be given instructions on how they would receive their set of documents. If you have not received the documents at least 3 days before your departure, please contact Kathy Merencillo at her FB Messenger.

F. ACCOMMODATIONS

The registration fee does not include hotel accommodations. Please read the previous INFO PACKS for more information on the various accommodation options while in Hongkong. Please be sure to have a definite hotel booking upon arrival for a worry-free stay in HongKong.

G. VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Please check Hongkong vaccination requirements that applies to your country of origin . Some countries from Africa and Latin America are required to show proof of vaccination for a set of possible diseases, We have also provided a short and simple explanation on the most recent Covid requirements and protocol for travelers to Hongkong. Please check Info Pack # 1 on the subject matter. We believe that the same protocols and requirements apply to all nationalities.

H. POST CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES

There will be meetings and side huddles at the conference to discuss plans on what to do after the conference. Many will proceed the following day to their Access 2 training. The rest will have options to enjoy everything Hongkong city has to offer or travel to the many beautiful go to places outside of the central area. There are also some missionaries who are planning to go to MAINLAND CHINA for their post conference activities. Entry to Mainland China requires a VISA to enter, including for Filipinos. Visa application may take several days to process, so if you have plans to go in to Mainland China you must file your application the earliest possible in the Chinese embassy in your place. . We have long term missionaries in China and they would be more than happy to assist should you plan to visit their ministries.

Please feel free to mingle and fellowship with your fellow missionaries at the conference and take part in their planned activities. You will always be a welcome addition to any group. We are all brothers and sisters in the faith!

I. CURRENCY EXCHANGE

We advise that you have your local currency changed to HONGKONG DOLLAR (HKD) as soon as you set foot in HK international airport. You will be needing the HKD when you travel to your initial destination in Hongkong. There are many Currencies Exchange counters all over the airport. Not all of them accept all type of currencies though. They would normally have the list of currencies that they could change to HKD and the prevailing rates as well, on the board facing the travelers. ATM Machines are also everywhere. If your DEBIT cards have the international service providers logo like Mastercard, Plus, Maestro and Cirrus at the back of your card, then most likely you will be able to make withdrawals easily. The ATM machine will bring out HKD equivalent to the money withdrawn. Credit cards are widely accepted in Hongkong.

J. CONFERENCE ASSISTANCE (CONCIERGE)

We have a team organized to provide assistance to conference participants from other nations, especially those who are joining our event for the very first time and does not know anyone (except the IT Missionary who extended the invitation) . Our office staffs will be easy to spot at the conference for they will be wearing black vests with labels indicating that they are the event officials or CONFERENCE STAFFS. Please feel free to approach them and voice out your need. They will try their very best to help you.

K. MORE CONFERENCE INFO … please go to the RESOURCES PAGE on our website and look for the Conference Info & Testimonies section. You will find there all the INFO PACKS (1-4) providing information source on everything related to the conference.

One or two more Info Packs will be posted soon.

Read them, print the documents, and bring them with you as your travel reference and guide while in Hongkong.

We are looking forward to getting to know you more and serve alongside you in the mission field. The event would be a wonderful place for us to chat, fellowship, pray and even plan for what could be our future mission ministry together as International Teams missionaries.

Blessings,

Ptr Gani Sion

7th CUTTING EDGE CONF IN HONGKONG INFO PACK # 6

Updated: Nov 7, 2024

7th Cutting Edge Leadership Conference 2024 in HONGKONG: Information Pack # 6 ... can I have more info please? (Info Pack & Letters)

Dear ITP Eagles and Friends,

YES!!! Three (3) weeks to go before our conference. I am eager to see all of you in Hong Kong. The excitement level for our upcoming 7th Cutting-Edge International Leadership Conference 2024 is rising fast. A good number of your fellow IT Missionaries, ACCESS 2 trainees and special guests have responded positively to our FB announcements and have reregistered already. But still, a lot more are praying and are still undecided. If you haven’t been to any of our past international conferences, we really would like you to seriously consider joining this one. It would be terrific if you could also invite the others to come with you.

The event was designed to energize, empower, and equip pastors and missionaries for higher level of leadership, to encourage and strengthen them to continue on with their roles as leaders, provide a special bonding time with fellow leaders coming from various places across the world, introduce to new networks and new field connections, impart a fresh ministry mandate and a clearer sense of purpose, and most important of all … meet the LORD in the company of His chosen ones!

Here are additional conference info that I would like to pass on …

1.ONLINE REGISTRATION: Please note that the deadline for online registration is on November 20 at 12 midnight. We will finalize all documents, conference ID’s, T-shirts, Gifts and Awards, and conference materials starting the 21st so we may not be able to accommodate anymore those who would still want to be included after the deadline. The whole office organizing team will be departing on the 25th and need to bring all the materials on their flight.

2. VENUE REGISTRATION: Registration tables will be set up at around 10am on Nov 27 and will be available only until 12 pm. Conference materials including T-shirts and other tokens will be distributed by then. The 7th CUTTING EDGE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE OFFICIALLY STARTS AT 1:00PM. We will have a Welcome Celebration activity to kick-start our conference. If you’re coming in later, please look for any IT Office Staff so they could hand over to you your Registration Packet.

3. PARTICIPANTS: All ITP missionaries, ACCESS 2 Trainees, and partners are invited to the conference. If you would like to invite your friends or relatives to the conference, we would require that they be of the same faith (BORN -AGAIN CHRISTIANS only). The conference is not an evangelistic gathering, and the topics will not suit those coming from a different religious background. The qualified guests will be classified as SPECIAL GUESTS. Pastors, Church Leaders, and Church Board members will highly benefit from this event.

4.HOTELS/ LODGING:

Accommodation is not included in the conference registration fee.

There are many options to choose from and to compare costs, from online booking sites like Booking com or Agoda.Com. Our preferred booking site is Agoda due to easy to navigate format. You could scan the site, choose your preferred hotel and pay directly online. Some of our missionaries have church networks in Hongkong willing to host some missionaries. Please ask your fellow missionaries for any possibility.

We strongly suggest that you book your hotel online prior to arrival to ensure a headache free accommodation in the wee of the night. You may ask the office (Sis Kathy or Sis Biyaya) to assist you in lodging arrangements. As soon as you arrive in Hongkong International airport, we recommend that you withdraw from the available ATM machines right away or have your dollars changed to Hongkong currency, so you will have local currency to use for your travel expenses. Some of the money changers close as early as 8pm but there are changers in various locations inside the airport that are open 24/7 The exchange rate as of November 5 is US$1 = P58.44 = HKD 7.77

Please go back to INFO PACK # 2 for a little more information on accommodation in Hongkong.

5. CONFERENCE MEALS: Breakfast and dinner from Nov 27 to 29 are on your own. There are a number of restaurants nearby to choose from. Lunch meals will be served though as part of the conference package on November 28 and 29 (Lunch for two (2) days only.) All participants will be issued food stamps to use in claiming the meals. Lunch meals will be served on the venue itself.

6. VISA REQUIREMENTS: There is no need for an Entry Visa for Filipinos to enter HONGKONG and MACAU. You are required though to present a valid passport upon your arrival. Please check your passport’s expiration date. They won’t allow you to leave the Philippines if your travel date falls within 6 months prior to expiration. If you are Philippine-born but holding a non-Philippines passport, you must check with the Chinese embassy for their visa requirements for citizens of the country of your passport. The same is true to those coming from other countries. Joining us at the conference are Bruneians, Canadians, Vietnamese, Indonesians, and Malaysians. Each country may have immigration visa requirements that we, the Philippines organizing staff, are unaware of. Please take time to study the travel requirements for people coming from your respective nations. Just go to Google and type visa requirements for travel to Hongkong.

7.PRE-DEPARTURE BRIEFINGS: Our office has provided and will continue to provide important pre departure ZOOM briefings/meetings on various dates this November to be announced to all conference participants and Access 2 trainees. Meeting ID and Passcode will be provided thru the Group page and will be posted on our website. The objective is to prepare all of you for your airport immigration encounter – both here and in Hongkong. We want to make sure that all bases are covered well before you depart for Hongkong. You will be provided with all the required departure documents to include ITeams Phils documents stating the nature of the event, conference program, etc … PLS PRIORITIZE THESE MEETINGS. Our bad immigration experiences in the past happened mostly to those who skipped the Pre-departure briefing thinking that they could easily breeze through immigration.

8. TRAVEL CLEARANCE FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES: If you are currently employed at any Philippine government institution, you are required to secure travel permit before you leave. Please try to secure one the earliest possible time. Our immigration officers will not allow you to board your plane if you fail to present that document. PLS DON’T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. The consequence of failure to secure the travel clearance when you leave the country will be dire.

9. POST-CONFERENCE ACTIVITY – ACCESS PART 2 TRAINING: Our Trainers and Evaluators/ Leaders for the ACCESS 2 Training will be at the conference to provide the travel briefing, instructions, itineraries and guidelines on the program. ACCESS 2 Training includes a one day trip to Macau. This will also be discussed during our pre-departure briefing.

10. FLIGHT RETURN TICKET: Those who have not booked flight return tickets yet, please make sure that you’ll have one ready before you leave for the conference. Our Philippine immigration officers will not allow you to depart the country without proof that you possess a return ticket. The return leg does not have to be from the same location where you entered. You may book your ticket to the place of your last planned destination.

11. SENSITIVITY & WISDOM. Please always be conscious that Hongkong and Macau are all part of China, a Communist nation. We hope that you won’t engage in any activity that will jeopardize not just our event but also those who are already serving in those countries. Please refrain from making any political statement against China.. There is a time for everything and the right way of doing things. “Be wise as serpents but pure as doves.” . We are people of the gospel of Christ bringing a message of hope and love from the Lord to all … including the Chinese people.

12. STREET CROSSING CAUTION: When crossing the street, please always remember that they drive on the other side of the road. Cars in Hongkong and Macau drive on the left side of the road. The cars they use surprisingly have steering wheels located on the left side, just like the ones we use in the Philippines. Cars in the Philippines drive on the right side though. Always look to your RIGHT first when crossing, if you don’t, you might be shocked to see a fast-incoming vehicle coming from a different direction that is about to hit you.

13. ELECTRIC OUTLETS AND PLUGS: Hongkong and Macau use the “British-Style 3-pin Square plug type. You need to buy an adapter as soon as you set foot in those countries. You need to have an adapter for your standard Philippine/ American type plug to use on the Hongkong/Macau outlets. If you could not purchase or borrow one while in the country, they are available in the Hongkong airport stores or you can purchase cheaper ones in the market.

14. MOBILE PHONE ROAMING: Please have your mobile phones activated for roaming service. You may inquire from your local telecommunication provider for roaming activation instructions. We would like everyone to be fully connected so we could call you right away in case of an emergency. You may not always have wi-fi or internet available so a roaming phone on stand-by will really be helpful. May we remind you though that the cost of international calls and texts made in Hongkong and Macau are expensive. You may want to buy a local SIM for the use of your group, a shared use card for local calls in Hongkong/Macau and text messages to the Philippines. You may just consider using your phone activated for roaming to receive calls and texts from the Phils. Text messages sent to you from the Phils will not incur any charges. Please remember that every call made thru your roaming activated phone will incur very expensive charges. Globe Mobile Roaming or Smart Roaming internet data for one whole day will cost you around Pesos 399. It would be cheaper and better to just purchase a Travel Tourist SIM card that you can use for short period of your stay in Hongkong.

15. HEALTH & MEDICINES: You may bring personal medications for those on maintenance and also for emergency cases – antihistamines for allergy, paracetamols for fever and pain etc. .. Our office will also bring medicines so in any case you feel the need to take some, please don’t hesitate to ask from any of our conference staffs. We also have RT--PCR test kits for use by our group.

16. ACCESS PART 2: Those who joined the conference to fulfill the final phase of the ACCESS training, will be part of the group who will proceed to Macau. after the conference. Sis Biyaya Villanueva and the team of Evaluators present at the conference will meet with the whole group to discuss the travel arrangements and the itinerary for Access 2 program. Those who are not part of the training group have the full freedom to determine where they would like to go and what they would like to do after the conference.

17. COURTESY: May we remind you that the teams and staffs who will be assisting you will be doing it from the generosity of their own hearts. The best response that you could give is to show gratitude and appreciation. Please take note that a good number of you will be there to be trained and evaluated and not the other way around. Our field team and conference staffs will appreciate and expect courtesy and humility from all. Let’s all be loving and kind to one another. Rest assured that they will assist & serve you to the best of their abilities.

18. OTHER REMINDERS

a. Don’t forget to prepare: P1,620 for travel tax to be paid online or at the Travel Tax Counter at NAIA Airport.

b. Address to write on your Phil. Departure and Hongkong Electronic arrival forms : THE WAVE, 4 HING YIP STREET, KWUN TONG, HONG KONG

c. Check your baggage allowance. Your budget airline (Cebu Pacific or Air Asia) booking starts with the minimum baggage allowance of 7 kilos for hand carry alone. If you need to bring with you a check in baggage, you must pay for the check in baggage weight of your choice. You may go directly to your airlines website and order the additional baggage weight that you want. If you’re baggage is overweight at check in, Airlines are stricter now on and weighs each baggage specially the hand carried bags if they are not over the weight limit set. They will charge you a hefty amount if you go above the prescribed weight.

d. SECURE PASSPORTS: Safeguard your passports to the maximum. Please have it photocopied and bring the copy with you always.

f. INFO PACKS: Please make sure that you read and re-read the earlier info packs sent to you. We advise that you have it printed so you could bring it with you and use it as your “go to” or reference guide. We noticed that there are some participants who kept on asking questions related to the conference that were fully explained already on those information materials.

g. Please ALWAYS keep in your pockets the address of your hotel or place where you are staying, the conference venue and emergency contact numbers.

h. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! If someone approaches you at the airport and asks for help in checking in their baggage and/or requests if they could include some items to your own baggage, with the excuse that they have no money to pay for the extra baggage allowance… DO NOT ENTERTAIN THEM. You might be used to transport illegal items. You will be held fully responsible for your own belongings. Please always be on the side of caution.

i. MEMORY CARD: With all the beautiful sights and ministry site that you will be visiting, you might need to bring an extra SD card(s) just to be sure that you don’t wind up with missed opportunities to capture valuable and memorable images.

j. BATTERY PACK: If you are bringing a portable power bank, be absolutely sure that you'll have it in your hand carried bag. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR CHECK IN BAGGAGE.

k. BE CAREFUL ALWAYS !!! Just like in every main city of the world, there are bad elements (pickpockets, snatchers etc..) that are out to prey on unsuspecting visitors. Please be extra vigilant and always protect your belongings. Of all items in your possession, please make sure to secure the most important item … your PASSPORT

l. ENJOY THE CONFERENCE AND ALL OF GOD’s BLESSINGS!

19. PRAYERS and INTERCESSION:

Please always include the conference and the organizing staffs in your prayers. Pray also for GOD’s provision for all those who will be attending the conference.
