Plan to Integrate Scripture into Philippine Schools

Plan to Integrate Scripture into
Philippine Schools

The Philippine education system is regulated by the Department of Education (DepEd) for basic education (K-12) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for universities and colleges. The 1987 Philippine Constitution recognizes the role of religion in moral and character formation, allowing Values Education and Religious Instruction in schools.

This plan is tailored for public and private schools in the Philippines, ensuring compliance with DepEd guidelines while maximizing impact.

PHASE 1: LAYING THE FOUNDATION

1. Engage Key Stakeholders: DepEd, School Administrators, and Parents

✅ Organize consultative meetings with school principals, teachers, and DepEd officials to propose a Bible-based Values Education approach.
✅ Work with PTA (Parents-Teachers Associations) to gain parental support for faith-based programs.
✅ Partner with Christian legislators and policymakers to push for stronger implementation of Biblical values in the curriculum.

2. Strengthen Biblical Values in the K-12 Curriculum

✅ Advocate for the integration of Biblical principles in the existing Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP) subject.
✅ Develop lesson guides for Christian teachers to integrate Bible-based morality, ethics, and leadership principles into subjects like Social Studies, Filipino, and English.
✅ Work with DepEd to officially approve Bible-based values education materials.

3. Supply Schools with Christian Literature

✅ Distribute Bibles and devotionals to students and teachers.
✅ Provide Christian books and study guides in school libraries.
✅ Develop posters and visual materials that display Scriptural truths on school walls.

PHASE 2: BIBLE-BASED SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

4. Establish Student-Led Bible Clubs (Allowed Under DepEd Policy)

✅ Encourage students to register Bible Clubs as official school organizations.
✅ Conduct weekly Bible study groups within the school campus (during breaks or after school).
✅ Organize Bible Quiz Bees and Scripture Memorization Challenges as part of school activities.

5. Promote Bible-Based Character Formation Programs

✅ Encourage schools to begin flag ceremonies with a Scripture reading and prayer (where permitted).
✅ Organize Values Formation Seminars led by Christian speakers for students and teachers.
✅ Conduct Christian leadership training programs for student councils.

PHASE 3: LEGAL ADVOCACY & POLICY REFORM

6. Strengthen the Legal Framework for Scripture-Based Education

✅ Work with Christian lawmakers to ensure DepEd policies continue to allow Biblical teachings in Values Education.
✅ Advocate for stronger implementation of Republic Act 10533 (K-12 Law), which already allows Religious Instruction in public schools upon written request of parents.
✅ Push for the expansion of RA 11510 (Alternative Learning System Act) to include Bible-based moral and leadership training.

7. Christian Teacher Training & Support

✅ Organize Christian Teacher Development Programs to help educators integrate Scriptural wisdom into daily lessons.
✅ Encourage DepEd to include Christian-based teaching strategies in Values Education training for teachers.
✅ Establish fellowship groups for Christian educators within schools.

PHASE 4: BUILDING A STRONG CHRISTIAN CULTURE IN SCHOOLS

8. Strengthen Christian Influence in School Media & Events

✅ Work with schools to include Christian books, podcasts, and videos in educational content.
✅ Encourage schools to organize Christian music, arts, and drama events showcasing Bible-based themes.
✅ Establish a Christian newspaper or blog for students, promoting faith-based stories and testimonies.

9. Partner with Churches & Christian Organizations

✅ Partner with local churches to provide volunteer pastors and youth leaders for school Bible studies.
✅ Work with Christian universities and seminaries to send guest speakers to schools.
✅ Establish scholarships for students who want to pursue Christian education.

PHASE 5: LONG-TERM NATIONAL IMPACT

10. Scaling the Movement Across the Country

Document success stories from model schools and promote them nationwide.
✅ Establish a National Alliance of Christian Educators and Students (NACES) to strengthen the movement.
✅ Work towards a nationwide policy on Bible-based moral education through legislative advocacy.

ACTION PLAN CHECKLIST FOR IMMEDIATE IMPLEMENTATION

📌 Short-Term (1-6 Months):
🔲 Organize meetings with Christian educators and school officials.
🔲 Register Bible Clubs in schools and launch student-led Bible studies.
🔲 Begin distributing Christian books and Bibles to schools.

📌 Mid-Term (6-12 Months):
