Unit 6 – Lesson 16: Living as an Example of Christ
Lesson Objectives:
✔ Understand what it means to be a living example of Christ.
✔ Learn how Jesus set the perfect example for us to follow.
✔ Apply practical ways to reflect Christ in daily life.
I. Introduction: What Does It Mean to Be Christlike?
📖 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." – 1 Corinthians 11:1
🔹 To be Christlike means to imitate Jesus in words, actions, and attitudes.
🔹 People around us should see God’s love and truth through our lives.
🔹 Our testimony can influence others to follow Christ.
💡 Discussion Question: Who is someone you know that reflects Christ in their life? What qualities do they have?
II. Jesus as Our Perfect Example
📖 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps." – 1 Peter 2:21
✅ 1. Jesus Showed Love and Compassion
📖 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." – John 13:35
✔ Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, and cared for the lost.
✔ We show Christ in us by helping, forgiving, and loving others.
✅ 2. Jesus Obeyed God’s Will
📖 "Not my will, but thine, be done." – Luke 22:42
✔ Jesus always followed God’s plan, even when it was difficult.
✔ We must obey God’s Word even when it is not easy.
✅ 3. Jesus Was Humble and Servant-Hearted
📖 "The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." – Matthew 20:28
✔ Jesus washed His disciples' feet to show humility.
✔ We must serve others without expecting rewards.
✅ 4. Jesus Resisted Sin and Temptation
📖 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." – Hebrews 4:15
✔ Jesus overcame temptation by using God’s Word (Matthew 4:1-11).
✔ We must avoid sin and stand firm in righteousness.
III. How Can We Reflect Christ in Our Daily Lives?
📖 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." – Matthew 5:16
✅ 1. Speak Words That Honor God
✔ Avoid gossip, lies, and hurtful words.
✔ Speak with kindness, encouragement, and truth.
✅ 2. Act with Integrity and Honesty
✔ Do what is right, even when no one is watching.
✔ Be honest in school, at home, and with friends.
✅ 3. Show Love and Kindness
✔ Help those in need and forgive those who hurt you.
✔ Be patient and understanding toward others.
✅ 4. Be Faithful in Prayer and Bible Reading
✔ Spend time with God daily.
✔ Let the Word of God shape your thoughts and decisions.
IV. Living as an Example at Home, School, and Community
📖 "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." – 1 Corinthians 10:31
🔹 At Home: Show respect, help with responsibilities, and pray for family.
🔹 At School: Be honest in studies, respect teachers, and be a good influence.
🔹 In the Community: Help neighbors, avoid bad company, and share God’s love.

V. Activity: Personal Reflection
🔹 Write a short journal entry answering these questions:
1️⃣ In what areas of your life do you struggle to reflect Christ?
2️⃣ What is one habit or action you can change to better show Jesus in your life?
3️⃣ How can you encourage someone else to live as an example of Christ?
