Module 1 – Topic 2
God Cannot Lie
Opening Declaration
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” (Titus 1:2 KJV)
Students of wisdom, let us meditate on a truth that secures our faith: God cannot lie. Unlike man whose words may fail, or the enemy who is the father of lies, the Lord is bound by His own holy nature—He is pure truthfulness. His promises stand unshaken from eternity past to eternity future. This is the foundation of our eternal hope.
I. The Nature of God’s Truthfulness
-
God is incapable of falsehood.
-
Truth is not only what He speaks—it is who He is.
-
Scripture affirms:
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 KJV)
-
Man may change his words, but God’s word is eternal.
-
This truth gives us stability in a world of uncertainty.
📌 Application: As students and future leaders, your integrity must reflect God’s nature. Your words should be trustworthy because your God is trustworthy.
II. The Unshaken Promises of God
-
God’s Word is anchored in His eternal promise.
-
What He has promised before the foundation of the world will surely come to pass.
-
The writer of Hebrews confirms:
“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:18 KJV)
-
Because God cannot lie, His covenant promises are unbreakable.
-
Our hope is not wishful thinking but a sure anchor for the soul.
📌 Application: When you face doubts about your future, remember that God’s promises are stronger than your fears. Trust His Word, even when circumstances seem contrary.
III. The Security of Our Faith
-
The verse in Titus 1:2 ties God’s truthfulness with eternal life.
-
Our faith is secure not because of our efforts but because of God’s unchanging Word.
-
Jesus Himself declares:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24 KJV)
-
If God cannot lie, then the promise of eternal life is sure.
-
This makes the Christian faith not a gamble but a certainty.
📌 Application: As leaders in training, your confidence must be rooted in God’s unshakable Word. Faith is not blind—it is anchored in the absolute truth that God cannot lie.
IV. God’s Truthfulness vs. The Lies of the Enemy
-
The contrast is clear:
“Ye are of your father the devil… When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44 KJV)
-
Satan deceives; God reveals.
-
The enemy brings confusion; God brings clarity.
-
Believers are secure because God’s truth overpowers the devil’s lies.
📌 Application: When tempted to doubt or compromise, remember that lies enslave but God’s truth liberates. Stand on His Word against deception.
V. Practical Values Integration
-
Personal Integrity: If God cannot lie, His children should live in truth. Honesty in words and actions reflects His nature.
-
Academic Integrity: Avoid dishonesty in exams, projects, and research. Truthfulness in small matters shows readiness for greater responsibilities.
-
Spiritual Integrity: Do not live with a double life. Be consistent in private and public. Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no.
Reflection Questions
-
Why is it important that God’s nature is truth itself and not just that He speaks truth?
-
How does the assurance that God cannot lie strengthen your hope of eternal life?
-
In what ways can you practice truthfulness as a student, leader, and follower of Christ?
Closing Exhortation
Hear, O seekers of wisdom: the faithfulness of God is the fortress of our soul. In a world filled with lies, half-truths, and broken promises, God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. His Word is not just reliable—it is impossible to fail, for He cannot lie.
“The word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.” (Psalm 33:4 KJV)
Beloved, walk in this assurance: the God you serve is the God of Truth. Stand on His promises, live in integrity, and lead with conviction—for your faith rests not on shifting sands, but on the eternal Rock who cannot lie.

For me, it’s important that God’s nature is truth itself because it shows that everything about Him is pure, consistent, and trustworthy. It’s not only about what He says, but about who He truly is. His truth never changes, and that gives me confidence to rely on His promises no matter what happens. Knowing that God cannot lie strengthens my hope for eternal life because it reminds me that His words are not just comforting, but guaranteed. Even when I face doubts or challenges, I can hold on to the assurance that His truth will never fail. As a student, leader, and follower of Christ, I can practice truthfulness by being honest in my studies, admitting when I make mistakes, and staying sincere in all I do. I can also show truthfulness by keeping my word, avoiding cheating or gossip, and being someone others can trust—reflecting the truth that comes from God Himself.
