Unit 3 – Lesson 7: The Power of Kindness and Encouragement
Lesson Objectives:
✔ Understand the biblical foundation of kindness and encouragement.
✔ Learn how small acts of kindness can make a big impact.
✔ Apply kindness and encouragement in school, home, and daily life.
I. Introduction: What is Kindness?
📖 "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." – Ephesians 4:32
🔹 Kindness is showing love, respect, and care for others.
🔹 Encouragement is helping others feel hopeful and confident.
🔹 God calls us to spread kindness and uplift others, just as He does for us.
💡 Reflection Question:
Think of a time when someone showed you kindness. How did it make you feel?
II. Biblical Basis for Kindness and Encouragement
✅ 1. God Commands Us to Be Kind
📖 "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it." – Proverbs 3:27
- Kindness is not just a suggestion—it’s a command from God.
- We should always be ready to do good whenever we can.
🔹 Lesson: Every small act of kindness can be a way to glorify God.
✅ 2. Jesus as Our Example of Kindness
📖 "For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you." – John 13:15
- Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, and comforted the brokenhearted.
- He showed kindness even to those who didn’t deserve it.
🔹 Lesson: We should treat others as Jesus treated people—with love and compassion.
✅ 3. Encouragement Strengthens Others
📖 "Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do." – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
- Encouraging words can lift someone’s spirit and bring hope.
- Our words should build people up, not tear them down.
🔹 Lesson: The right words at the right time can change someone’s life.
✅ 4. The Rewards of Kindness and Encouragement
📖 "He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor." – Proverbs 22:9
- Kindness brings joy, peace, and blessings.
- Encouraging others creates strong friendships and a positive environment.
🔹 Lesson: When we show kindness, God blesses us in return.
