Lesson 8: Urgency in Evangelism Before the End Comes

Lesson 8: Urgency in Evangelism Before the End Comes

Scripture Reading: “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”Matthew 24:14, KJV
“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”John 4:35, KJV

I. Introduction

The end is not only marked by judgment but also by the global completion of the Great Commission. Before Jesus returns, He has declared that the gospel will reach every corner of the earth. This makes evangelism not just important—it is urgent. We are living in the time window where the fields are ready, but the laborers must move quickly.

II. Why Evangelism Is Urgent in the End Times

  1. Because the harvest window is short

    • John 9:4 — “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

    • Opportunities close when conditions change; persecution and censorship can limit gospel spread.

  2. Because prophecy demands fulfillment

    • Matthew 24:14 — The gospel to “all nations” (Greek: ethnos — ethnic people groups) is a prophetic marker before the end.

  3. Because souls are at stake

    • 2 Peter 3:9 — God delays judgment so more people may repent.

    • Delay is mercy, but not without end.

III. End-Time Evangelism Strategies

  1. Personal Witnessing

    • Acts 1:8 — “Ye shall be witnesses unto me…”

    • Sharing Christ in daily conversations, not just in church events.

  2. Using All Platforms

    • Technology, social media, print, radio, and face-to-face ministry to accelerate the message.

  3. Targeting the Unreached

    • Focus on unreached people groups (UPGs) with no gospel witness.

    • Support Bible translations and mission mobilization.

  4. Evangelism in Power

    • Mark 16:20 — Preach with signs following; miracles validate the message in resistant areas.

IV. Practical Ways to Live Out Urgent Evangelism

  • Keep gospel tracts or digital materials ready to share.

  • Train in a simple gospel presentation (e.g., the 3 Circles or Romans Road).

  • Partner with mission organizations.

  • Make prayer lists for unreached people groups and lost loved ones.

  • Organize neighborhood evangelism outreaches.

V. Reflection Questions

  1. How does Matthew 24:14 challenge your personal priorities?

  2. Who in your immediate circle has not yet heard the gospel clearly from you?

  3. What steps can you take to be more intentional in evangelism this week?

VI. Group Activity

  • “Harvest Map” Exercise: On a map, mark the nations or regions your group has connections to. Pray over these nations for gospel breakthrough.

  • Role-play: Practice sharing the gospel in 3 minutes or less, then give feedback to each other.

VII. Key Takeaway

The time is short, the harvest is ready, and the King is coming. Evangelism in the end times is not just a church program—it is a divine urgency.
