Devotion time is for focusing on God, away from distractions. As what stated in Mtthew 6:6, " But thou, when thou prayest, enter thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward openly". This means that when we pray, we must choose a quiet and closed spot and pray with devotion away from any disturbance. With this, we can surrender all our worries to God with all our hearts. Show Him that we are sincere and widen our thought on what we really want to express. Through our allocation in devotion, we are getting more closer to God and understand what His Words really mean to us. By submitting to Him secretly, He will reward us openly. After the devotion time, we must thank God for the time spent and for all the new understanding we acquired to Him. To all the good things that happening to us, it is God that taking the lead and control.

The article beautifully reminds me how important it is to prepare both my mind and heart before entering into devotion — choosing a quiet place and starting with prayer helps me focus on God without distraction. By reading Scripture slowly and meditatively, I can really hear what God is saying, not just go through the motions. Reflecting on key verses and asking questions brings the Bible into my everyday life, making it deeply relevant to my struggles, choices, and relationships. The act of journaling my insights and prayers feels like a tangible way to track my spiritual growth and remember what God is teaching me. Finally, taking time to wait, listen, and end in praise helps me cultivate a posture of surrender and dependence, trusting that the Holy Spirit is leading me in truth.

For me, Personal devotions are done by finding a quiet place where you can focus on God, praying first to prepare your heart, and then reading a Bible verse slowly and carefully. After reading, you think about what the verse means and how you can use it in your daily life. Then you pray again—asking for help, saying sorry for any sins, and thanking God for His goodness. You may also write simple notes about what you learned. Take a moment to be still and listen for God’s guidance. Finally, end by thanking God for the time spent with Him and deciding to live out the lessons you learned that day

Personal Devotion is not just all about reading a Bible and praying but it’s also about applying what you read at the Bible on yourself. For you to have a genuine personal devotion, you need to treat it also with a genuine intention. Imagine after reading a Bible, doing immoral things again and forgetting the teachings immediately. It’s ironic, right? So I learned that repeating the same mistakes over and over again doesn’t make you make you flourish your life and yourself. Applying what you learned from a personal devotion makes you have growth.

When I do personal devotions, it feels like a special time just for me and God. I try to find a quiet place where I won’t be distracted, and I start by praying for guidance and an open heart. As I read the Bible, I take my time to really think about the words and what they mean for my life. So, in Roma 6:23, it says that what we earn from sin is death, but God gives us eternal life through Jesus. This means that when we do bad things, there are consequences, but God is offering us a way out of that. He's giving us a free gift of forever life if we believe in Jesus. It’s like, we messed up, but God's love is bigger than our mistakes, and He wants us to be with Him always. It makes me think about how important it is to choose good things and to be thankful for God's gift.

Reading this guide taught me that personal devotions start with the right space and heart. I need to find a quiet corner to avoid distractions, like the verse in Matthew says. Praying to God to search my heart helps me stay humble and open.
When reading the Bible, I should pick a passage or follow a plan to stay consistent. Reading slowly helps me understand what God is saying, and focusing on key verses lets me think deeply. Joshua’s words remind me to meditate day and night.
Finally, asking questions about the text shows me more about God and myself. I will write down how scriptures apply to my daily life, relationships, and goals. This guide makes devotions feel simple and meaningful.
