Lesson 2: How to Read and Apply the Bible Daily
Lesson Objectives:
✔ Learn practical ways to read and understand the Bible.
✔ Discover how to apply Biblical principles in daily life.
✔ Develop a habit of daily Bible reading and reflection.
I. Introduction: Why Do We Need to Read the Bible Daily?
📖 The Bible is God’s personal message to us. Just as students need textbooks to study, we need the Bible to learn how to live according to God’s will.
🔹 Key Verse:
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." – Joshua 1:8
💡 Reflection Question: How can reading the Bible daily bring success to your life as a student?
II. Practical Ways to Read and Understand the Bible
Some students say, "I want to read the Bible, but I don’t know where to start!" Here are some easy ways:
✅ 1. Follow a Daily Bible Reading Plan
- Read one chapter a day (Start with the book of Proverbs or Psalms).
- Use the “One-Year Bible Plan” (reading a little from the Old and New Testament daily).
- Keep a Bible Reading Tracker to record what you’ve read.
✅ 2. Use the S.O.A.P. Method (A Simple Bible Study Guide)
✍ S – Scripture: Write down a Bible verse that stands out to you.
💡 O – Observation: What is the verse teaching?
❤️ A – Application: How can you apply this verse in your daily life?
🙏 P – Prayer: Ask God to help you live by His Word.
🔹 Example:
📖 Scripture: "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you." – Ephesians 4:32
💡 Observation: God wants us to forgive and be kind.
❤️ Application: I will forgive my classmate who hurt my feelings.
🙏 Prayer: "Lord, help me to be kind and forgiving just as You have forgiven me."
✅ 3. Choose the Right Time and Place to Read
- Set aside 5-10 minutes every morning before school.
- Find a quiet place where you won’t be distracted.
- Keep a Bible and notebook handy for notes.
🔹 Reflection Question: When is the best time for you to read your Bible?
III. How to Apply the Bible in Daily Life
Reading the Bible is important, but living it out is what truly matters!
📌 James 1:22 – “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Here are some ways to apply the Bible in your daily life:
1. Obey God’s Commands
- If the Bible says “love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44), then forgive those who hurt you.
- If the Bible says “honor your father and mother” (Exodus 20:12), then respect and obey your parents.
2. Trust God’s Promises
- When you feel afraid, remember Isaiah 41:10 – "Fear thou not; for I am with thee."
- When you feel weak, remember Philippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
3. Share God’s Word with Others
- Tell a friend about a Bible verse that helped you.
- Encourage classmates by living a Christ-like example.
- Join or start a Bible Study Group in school.
🔹 Reflection Question: Can you think of a situation in school where applying a Bible verse would help?
IV. Activity: My Daily Bible Habit Plan
📖 Write down your plan for reading the Bible daily:
✔ What time will you read the Bible? (Morning, before bed, during lunch, etc.)
✔ Where will you read the Bible? (At home, in school, in a quiet place, etc.)
✔ What book of the Bible will you start with? (Psalms, Proverbs, Gospels, etc.)
✍ Writing Task:
➡ Write a short commitment prayer:
"Lord, help me to be faithful in reading and applying Your Word daily. Teach me to follow Your ways and live for Your glory. Amen."
V. Conclusion: The Bible as Our Daily Guide
✔ Reading the Bible every day helps us grow in wisdom and faith.
✔ The S.O.A.P. method makes Bible study easy to understand.
✔ Applying the Bible in daily life leads to spiritual growth and success.
💡 Challenge: Start a 7-Day Bible Reading Challenge – Read a passage daily and write one lesson from it!
📌 Next Lesson: Developing a Strong Prayer Life
🔹 Teacher’s Guide:
✔ Encourage students to bring their Bibles and start a Bible reading journal.
✔ Assign a Bible buddy (classmates pair up and discuss their reading progress).
✔ Give a small reward to those who complete the 7-Day Bible Reading Challenge.
📖 Memory Verse for the Week:
