Unit 4 – Lesson 10: Trusting God in Difficult Times

Unit 4 – Lesson 10: Trusting God in Difficult Times

Lesson Objectives:

✔ Understand that difficulties are part of life but God remains faithful.
✔ Learn how biblical figures trusted God during trials.
✔ Develop a personal response of faith in challenging situations.

I. Introduction: Why Do We Face Difficulties?

📖 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."John 16:33

🔹 Life is full of challenges, disappointments, and struggles.
🔹 But Jesus promised that we can have peace even in hard times because He has overcome the world.
🔹 Trusting God means believing in His goodness even when life is tough.

💡 Discussion Question: Have you ever faced a difficult time? How did you respond?

II. Biblical Examples of Trusting God in Hard Times

1. Job – Trusting God in Suffering

📖 "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."Job 13:15

  • Job lost everything—his wealth, family, and health—but he remained faithful to God.
  • God later restored everything he lost and even blessed him double.

🔹 Lesson: Even when we don’t understand, we can trust God’s plan.

2. Daniel – Trusting God in the Lion’s Den

📖 "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me."Daniel 6:22

  • Daniel was thrown into a den of lions for praying to God.
  • Instead of fear, he trusted in God's protection.
  • God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths!

🔹 Lesson: When we stand firm in faith, God will deliver us.

3. Paul and Silas – Singing in Prison

📖 "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them."Acts 16:25

  • Even when they were beaten and imprisoned, Paul and Silas worshiped God instead of complaining.
  • God sent an earthquake that freed them from prison!

🔹 Lesson: Worship and prayer can bring freedom even in the darkest times.

III. Why Can We Trust God in Difficult Times?

📖 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."Proverbs 3:5

🔹 1. God is Always in Control – Nothing happens without His knowledge.
🔹 2. God Works All Things for Good – Even pain has a purpose (Romans 8:28).
🔹 3. God is Our Strength – He will help us endure every trial (Isaiah 41:10).

💡 Discussion Question: Why do you think God allows difficulties in our lives?

IV. How Do We Trust God in Difficult Times?

1. Pray and Surrender Everything to God

📖 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."1 Peter 5:7
Talk to God and give Him your burdens.
Believe that He cares for you!

2. Remember God’s Promises

📖 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee."Isaiah 41:10
Read the Bible and remind yourself of His faithfulness.

3. Surround Yourself with Godly Friends

📖 "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."Galatians 6:2
Talk to Christian friends, teachers, or pastors who can pray for you.

4. Keep Praising and Worshiping God

📖 "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."Philippians 4:4
Even when you don’t feel like it, keep worshiping God.

V. Activity: “God’s Promises Jar”

🔹 Write down one Bible promise that encourages you when facing difficulties.
🔹 Decorate a jar and fill it with promises from the Bible.
🔹 Whenever you feel discouraged, pick one and read it!

📖 Memory Verse:
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."2 Corinthians 5:7

📌 Next Lesson: Responsibility and Stewardship

🔹 Teacher’s Guide:
✔ Reinforce that God is always faithful, even when we don’t understand.
✔ Encourage students to respond in faith, prayer, and worship during trials.
✔ Share personal testimonies of overcoming difficulties with God’s help.
