Unit 4 – Lesson 10: Trusting God in Difficult Times

Lesson Objectives:

✔ Understand that difficulties are part of life but God remains faithful.
✔ Learn how biblical figures trusted God during trials.
✔ Develop a personal response of faith in challenging situations.

I. Introduction: Why Do We Face Difficulties?

πŸ“– "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."John 16:33

πŸ”Ή Life is full of challenges, disappointments, and struggles.
πŸ”Ή But Jesus promised that we can have peace even in hard times because He has overcome the world.
πŸ”Ή Trusting God means believing in His goodness even when life is tough.

πŸ’‘ Discussion Question: Have you ever faced a difficult time? How did you respond?

II. Biblical Examples of Trusting God in Hard Times

1. Job – Trusting God in Suffering

πŸ“– "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."Job 13:15

  • Job lost everything—his wealth, family, and health—but he remained faithful to God.
  • God later restored everything he lost and even blessed him double.

πŸ”Ή Lesson: Even when we don’t understand, we can trust God’s plan.

2. Daniel – Trusting God in the Lion’s Den

πŸ“– "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me."Daniel 6:22

  • Daniel was thrown into a den of lions for praying to God.
  • Instead of fear, he trusted in God's protection.
  • God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths!

πŸ”Ή Lesson: When we stand firm in faith, God will deliver us.

3. Paul and Silas – Singing in Prison

πŸ“– "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them."Acts 16:25

  • Even when they were beaten and imprisoned, Paul and Silas worshiped God instead of complaining.
  • God sent an earthquake that freed them from prison!

πŸ”Ή Lesson: Worship and prayer can bring freedom even in the darkest times.

III. Why Can We Trust God in Difficult Times?

πŸ“– "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."Proverbs 3:5

πŸ”Ή 1. God is Always in Control – Nothing happens without His knowledge.
πŸ”Ή 2. God Works All Things for Good – Even pain has a purpose (Romans 8:28).
πŸ”Ή 3. God is Our Strength – He will help us endure every trial (Isaiah 41:10).

πŸ’‘ Discussion Question: Why do you think God allows difficulties in our lives?

IV. How Do We Trust God in Difficult Times?

1. Pray and Surrender Everything to God

πŸ“– "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."1 Peter 5:7
Talk to God and give Him your burdens.
Believe that He cares for you!

2. Remember God’s Promises

πŸ“– "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee."Isaiah 41:10
Read the Bible and remind yourself of His faithfulness.

3. Surround Yourself with Godly Friends

πŸ“– "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."Galatians 6:2
Talk to Christian friends, teachers, or pastors who can pray for you.

4. Keep Praising and Worshiping God

πŸ“– "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."Philippians 4:4
Even when you don’t feel like it, keep worshiping God.

V. Activity: “God’s Promises Jar”

πŸ”Ή Write down one Bible promise that encourages you when facing difficulties.
πŸ”Ή Decorate a jar and fill it with promises from the Bible.
πŸ”Ή Whenever you feel discouraged, pick one and read it!

πŸ“– Memory Verse:
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."2 Corinthians 5:7

πŸ“Œ Next Lesson: Responsibility and Stewardship
